About 60% of netizens are unwilling to pay for iPhone 12, but Apple's official website is overwhelmed by the rush? The truth behind the "really good" is...

This weekend, domestic netizens once again experienced a large-scale "really fragrant" scene!

On the evening of October 16, iPhone 12 started online pre-sales, and the first batch of goods on e-commerce platforms were sold out instantly. Apple’s official website in China crashed at one point, and related topics dominated the Weibo hot search list that day and over the weekend.

From sales to public opinion, iPhone 12 can be said to have won the first battle.

Recalling the Apple conference a few days ago, the public complaints are still fresh in our minds:

  • “The appearance is backward and nothing new”
  • "It's too expensive! Are you crazy about money?"
  • “I don’t have any earphones or chargers, so I might as well not sell my phone.”

The 21st Century Business Herald Lab conducted a number of surveys and found that no matter before or after the press conference or after the pre-sale started, 30% of netizens were always willing to pay. Never underestimate the true love of Apple fans.

“Real fragrance” is actually specious?

Although the iPhone 12 series has finally arrived, its popularity remains high.

On October 7, before the launch, the 21st Internet Research Lab launched a survey on "whether netizens will buy iPhone 12". The results showed that 54% of netizens said they would not buy it, 32% said they would buy it, and 14% were still considering it.

On the night of the press conference, the new product information was fully released, and there was a lot of controversy. 36.5% of netizens thought that the iPhone 12 was worth buying, while 63.5% thought it was not worth buying.

On the day of pre-sale, some netizens reported that Apple's official website crashed. According to domestic media reports, Apple's Tmall flagship store and Apple's official website have limited the purchase of new phones, with each person limited to two units per model. Although there is no official data yet, multiple sources of information show that the first batch of the two models sold out in a short time, and the most popular model could not be ordered within almost a minute.

The pre-sale of iPhone 12 series seems to be very hot. That night, more than 20,000 netizens participated in the 21st Online Research Lab's vote, of which 31.17% of netizens said they had bought or were preparing to buy, 53.37% of netizens clearly did not buy, and 16.46% were still considering it.

Some media learned from the supply chain that the first batch of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro domestic supply is at least hundreds of thousands of units. On e-commerce platforms, the most popular model is the iPhone 12 128G blue.

As of 8 p.m. on October 17, the online survey found from major e-commerce platforms that the iPhone 12 is available at Apple's JD.com flagship store, but the iPhone 12 Pro is temporarily out of stock; the iPhone 12 is available at the Tmall Apple Store official flagship store, but some iPhone 12 Pro models are out of stock; the iPhone 12 at the Tmall Suning flagship store is available except for the 256G model. On Apple's official website, both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are in stock.

Why was there so much criticism before the launch, but so much praise after the pre-sale?

Some people believe that no one can escape the law of true fragrance, even if they criticize and buy at the same time;

Some people think that those who curse and those who buy are not the same group of people.

Some netizens also concluded that the so-called "really fragrant" scene was the result created by scalpers, users, merchants, internet internet trolls and other parties.

According to the voting results of 21 online survey laboratories,

The number of people who choose to buy has remained stable at around 30%. They have firm brand preferences and product purchasing behaviors. Those who actively comment on whether they got their products on the night of the pre-sale are generally this group of people.

More than half of the respondents chose not to buy the product. Out of a mentality of just watching the show, they would also actively participate in criticizing Apple.

What makes Apple fans love and hate iPhone 12?

In recent years, there have been constant voices criticizing Apple.

For example, Xin Haiguang, a senior Internet industry observer, once wrote that Apple's "better" trend in the market will not change for the time being, but it is drifting further and further away from the original "great company", and its trend of falling into mediocrity shows no signs of changing.

The outside world is not optimistic about the iPhone 12 series.

The capital market was even less convinced. On the day of the press conference, Apple's stock price plummeted by 2.65%, and its market value shrank by $56.5 billion (equivalent to RMB 381.1 billion). After a slight rebound on October 14, Apple's stock price fell again to varying degrees on October 15 and 16.

The lack of a charger and earphones is the biggest change in the iPhone 12 series, and also the biggest complaint among netizens.

21 Online Research Lab conducted a survey on "what netizens are most dissatisfied with iPhone 12". The results showed that among the 20,000 netizens who participated in the vote, nearly half chose "no charger and earphones". The next most popular choice was high price (29.39%) and lack of innovative design (19.29%).

In the view of mobile phone practitioners, Apple’s failure to provide chargers and earphones means that it will be more difficult for it to win the favor of non-Apple users, because it is equivalent to invisibly increasing the cost of replacing the phone.

In fact, as early as when it was reported that the iPhone 12 series might no longer come with a power adapter and headphones, it caused heated discussions among netizens. After the press conference confirmed the news and pre-sales started, netizens reacted even more strongly.

Although the iPhone 12 series has been criticized by most netizens, it does not seem to undermine the sincerity of Apple fans towards Apple.

Some netizens even shouted on Weibo: "I am a die-hard Apple fan. Apple has always been imitated and never surpassed. If you don't agree, just shut up." According to statistics from the 21st Century Business Herald, 5.1% of netizens believe that the iPhone 12 is "perfect" and there is nothing to complain about.

Relatively speaking, Apple's appearance, functions and other aspects have a certain appeal to netizens.
