When people first start operations, it is easiest for them to develop a melancholy personality.

I started to develop a self-deprecating personality after I started working in operations. Self-deprecation is a kind of self-cultivation and a way to release frustration when doing operations. So, when I recalled the days when I entered the operations position, I created the term "operations manager" on the spur of the moment, purely for self-deprecation. Also, during that time, I wrote a 100,000-word article to complain about the operations, just to release my depressed mood.

I didn't learn much in college. After graduation, I came into contact with many low-level jobs, such as sales, conference marketing , franchising, planning , copywriting, book editing, web editing, marketing, and channels. Later, I switched to the postgraduate entrance examination market for a master’s degree in law at a certain university, but the truth was finally revealed. I had not predicted the questions correctly that year, but the promotional material said I would “pass”. Later, I really couldn't bear to update other people's lives anymore. The psychological pressure was too great, so I walked out of this trap.

Later, when I was doing campus recruitment for fresh graduates, I made another mistake by advising those students who were taking the postgraduate entrance exam to find jobs.

I feel very conflicted!

We don’t love our users enough. This is the essence of business and the essence of operations. "User-centric" is just an operational means.

Here is a warning to operators at this stage:

Life Science

Ultimately, operations and life become one. When you really understand the meridians of operation, you will find that operation is everywhere in life!

Confucius is China's chief content operations officer. He understood the essence of operations too early: the doctrine of the mean. When speaking to others, you should be cautious and modest, and not bombard them like a cannon; but you should also have your own principles. This is the golden mean in life.

Operations require moderation. First, you cannot be profit-driven, which can easily ruin the business, especially when it comes to products for users. Second, you cannot be user-centric, as this is just a means to an end for operations. Business is business after all, and profit is the top priority.

For example, how can you make users not feel disgusted, or even willingly convert to paying, or contribute high-quality posts to you? WeChat’s interaction is good. But this is not the user experience. From the perspective of life: people on Earth are lonely, vain, and gloat over other people’s misfortunes. I was lonely and wanted to go out and find friends to have barbecue. But now, I feel lonely, so I chat with my classmates and check my friends circle and I am no longer lonely.
