This is the fourth license extension by the US government since Huawei was included in the US Department of Commerce's "Entity List" in May 2019. The existing license is due to expire on February 16.

On November 18, 2019, the US government announced that it would extend Huawei’s “Temporary General License” for another 90 days, marking the third extension.

At that time, Huawei’s chairman told CNBC that whether the United States would extend the exemption order or not, the impact on Huawei would be "very limited."

At the same time, Huawei also stated that regardless of whether the temporary license is extended or not, the substantive impact on Huawei's operations will be limited, and it will not change the unfair treatment Huawei has been suffering. Huawei has always believed that the US government's addition of Huawei to the "Entity List" will cause greater damage to the United States than to Huawei. This will not only cause huge economic losses to American companies that cooperate with Huawei, but also undermine cooperation and mutual trust in the global supply chain.
