On March 20, the Belmont Health Department in Massachusetts, U.S., responded to a reporter from the Beijing News regarding questions related to the Beijing imported case Li Mou, saying that in early March, a person claimed to have flu symptoms and requested a new coronavirus test, and there is reason to believe that this person is Li Mou. The Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention once reported that Li said he wanted to be tested for the virus in the United States but was refused. However, the Belmont Health Department said that Li had completed testing in the United States and the result was positive. After learning the test results, they tried to contact Li many times but to no avail.

On March 13, Beijing reported a confirmed case imported from the United States. Li Mou, female, 37 years old, had lived in Massachusetts, USA for a long time. While in the United States, Li had developed symptoms such as fever and cough, and sought medical treatment locally many times. She took antipyretics before boarding the plane in the United States. After boarding the plane, she did not truthfully provide the flight attendants with information about her personal health status and the conditions of her husband, son and other companions, posing an infection risk to the passengers on the same plane.

The Shunyi Public Security Bureau has opened an investigation into Li on suspicion of obstructing the prevention and control of infectious diseases. On March 16, Li's husband Hong was diagnosed as a confirmed case.
