1. Application conditions

If you meet any of the following conditions, you can apply for a Beijing Residence Permit (including card replacement):

(1) Foreigners who have lived in Beijing for more than 6 months and meet one of the following conditions: legal and stable employment, legal and stable residence, or continuous study in Beijing, may apply for a Beijing Residence Permit from the local police station.

(2) If the applicant’s Beijing Residence Registration Card is valid for more than 5 months but less than 7 months and meets one of the following conditions: legal and stable employment, legal and stable residence, or continuous study in Beijing, the applicant may apply to exchange the Beijing Residence Registration Card for a Beijing Residence Permit.

Note: The service management of foreigners, residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese shall be implemented in accordance with relevant national regulations.

2. Application materials

(1) Proof of identity

Personal identity card or household register or identity certificate issued by the public security authority of the place of origin.

Note: To apply for a residence permit online, you need your second-generation resident ID card.

(2) Proof of residence time

A Beijing Residence Registration Card that has been valid for 5 months and less than 7 months, or a tax payment certificate or social security certificate for 6 consecutive months in Beijing, or a valid Work Residence Permit.

Note: The starting and ending time of 6 consecutive months of payment refers to the 6 consecutive months of payment before the month before the month of application.

(3) One of the following proofs: legal and stable employment, legal and stable residence, or continuous study:

(1) If the Beijing Residence Registration Card is used as proof of residence time:

① For those who choose legal and stable employment, provide any of the following materials:

a. A labor contract or employment contract or labor relationship certificate with the official seal of the employer in Beijing and with an unfulfilled period of more than 6 months;

b. A business license issued by the city's industrial and commercial administration department with a term of operation not less than 6 months from its expiration;

② For those who choose a legal and stable residence, provide any of the following materials:

a. For those who live in their own houses: provide the "House Ownership Certificate" or "Real Estate Certificate". If the "House Ownership Certificate" or "Real Estate Certificate" has not been obtained yet, provide the online contract for the sale of commercial housing;

b. For renting houses: For those who rent houses from residential households, provide the original or copy of the "House Ownership Certificate" or "Real Estate Certificate" or the online contract for the sale of commercial housing, as well as a house lease contract or agreement with a lease term of more than 6 months and recording the detailed address of the house, the names of both the lessor and the lessee, their ID numbers, contact information, and the lease term; For those who rent houses on rural homesteads, provide a copy of the first page and personal page of the "Resident Household Register" of the house owner, as well as a house lease contract or agreement with a lease term of more than 6 months and recording the detailed address of the house, the names of both the lessor and the lessee, their ID numbers, contact information, and the lease term;

c. Those who live in schools, hospitals, research institutes, enterprises and institutions: provide a residence certificate with the official seal of the unit’s personnel or security department.

③ For those who choose to study continuously, provide any of the following materials:

a. Those who have obtained student status and are studying in primary and secondary schools in this city should provide their student ID card (including primary and secondary school student cards) issued by the school.

b. For those who have obtained student status and received full-time academic education in the city’s secondary vocational schools, general colleges and universities, and scientific research institutions with postgraduate training qualifications, they shall provide their student ID card issued by the school or scientific research institution.

Note: If the applicant chooses to have legal and stable employment or continuous study, and his/her current address is inconsistent with the "Beijing Residence Registration Card", he/she must also provide proof of residence in Beijing that is consistent with the current address filled in.

(2) If a person uses a tax receipt, social security certificate, or valid work-residence permit as proof of residence time, he or she may apply for a residence permit based on legal and stable employment. A tax receipt, social security certificate, or valid work-residence permit may also be used as proof of legal and stable employment. The applicant must also provide proof of residence in Beijing.

(4) Recent personal photos

One recent 1-inch barehead and front-facing color ID photo of yourself with a white background.

(5) Proof of the agent (if the agent is required)

The resident ID card or household register of the agent or the identity certificate issued by the public security organ of the place of origin;

Medical birth certificate, resident household register, marriage certificate, etc. that can prove the existence of guardianship and kinship;

Written power of attorney (except for minors under 16 years old).

3. Application method

(1) Handling by oneself: If the applicant does not meet the requirements for entrusting an agent to handle the application, the applicant must handle the application in person.

(2) Agent: Minors under the age of 16, elderly people with limited mobility and disabled persons, etc., can apply for the Beijing Residence Permit through their guardians or immediate relatives.

2. How to apply for a residence permit online in 2022?

Follow the steps to apply online through the Beijingtong APP or Beijing Residence Permit WeChat Official Account;

For those who do not use smartphones on a daily basis or who find it inconvenient to apply for electronic certificates, the Beijing Residence Permit Application Window will continue to accept application procedures for certificates and cards. After passing the review, the "Beijing Residence Permit (Card) Confirmation Form" will be issued.

Note: Online applications can only be submitted by the applicant himself with his second-generation ID card and cannot be submitted on behalf of another person.

3. How many days will it take to get a residence permit in 2022?

If the review is passed, the "Residence Permit" will generally be produced online within 8 working days.
