4 tips to improve the work efficiency of operators!

The operations staff are all young people, so rapid growth is particularly important. Growth factors generally include a hot industry, a great supervisor, and one’s own efforts; one’s own efforts include talent, diligence, and methods; methods include operational methodology (for example, how to do user operations well) and working methods (for example, time management/communication/induction and summary, etc.). Here are a few tips on "working methods" that I have summarized. They are easy to do and have good effects.

1. Plan Ahead

Plan your activities for the following week every Sunday night, and review your plans for the next day every night. Write them down one by one, including the time points, expected results, and priorities. Make sure you know exactly what you want to do when you sit at your desk. The most basic purpose of doing this is to ensure that the day is efficient, but it is also to deal with various emergencies or unplanned situations, such as the boss adding work at the last minute, colleagues requesting support, and having to clean up one's own mess and put out fires. When you encounter a situation, judge the priority based on your original plan, and then decide whether to do it and when to do it. For example, the boss’s tasks should be done quickly because they have the highest priority, and other plans can be postponed. If there are too many things to be postponed and it is impossible to finish them on the same day, see if you can delay them to the next day. After all, quality must be guaranteed, and blindly working overtime is not recommended.

2. Arrive 15 minutes early

The normal work of operations staff is like fighting a war. Various big and small things pile up in front of them, a row of windows for chatting with users flashes, and there are several meetings to attend. It is easy to feel tired and passive. To address this problem, it is recommended to arrive at the company 15 minutes early. Before starting to work, you should pour a glass of water, look at the data from the previous day, reply to any remaining emails, browse important related news, recheck the day's plans, etc. After completing this series of things, you can start working and your colleagues around you will also come to work. At this time, you are fully prepared, your thoughts are very clear, and you can do things with ease, so you arrive 15 minutes earlier than others. It feels like you started first in a long-distance race and are far ahead.

3. Learn to let go

As mentioned above, the common problem faced by operations colleagues is that there are too many things to do, but please understand that the goal of operations is to improve product indicators, not to do all the chores. So generally speaking, there are only one or two key things to do every week. If the product is done well, there will be results and individuals will have performance, and this is the most important thing. Looking back at those chores, if I don’t do them, will I lose my job? Will the company go bankrupt? So I have to learn to give up. This suggestion is mainly written for those students who cannot judge priorities and have obsessive-compulsive disorder, because they do things in the order of receiving tasks, and they must finish one task before doing the next one, otherwise they will feel uncomfortable. The consequence is that it is already 8 o'clock in the evening, but the important things of the day have not been done.

4. Give your thinking a deadline

Operations students need to come up with new and interesting things, so there will often be brainstorming and independent thinking sessions, but you will find that such sessions are the most time-consuming. Once your brain starts to wander, you have no idea where it will go, and if you just think about it, your mind will easily go blank. Therefore, whether it is the overall direction or a sentence of copywriting , a deadline must be given to this thinking process. I often do this. I ask a few people to stop what they are doing and discuss an important sentence together. I emphasize that it must be over in 5 minutes, and by then, whatever it is will be finalized. Because I estimate that 5 minutes is enough, spending more time may not necessarily lead to better results, and it will also be easier to focus everyone's attention.

Let me write these four points first. I don’t remember seeing them often in those nonsense articles. I hope they will be helpful to everyone. I strongly recommend trying it yourself. It may seem boring, but the effect is quite good. I have also shared these points with my friends, but they executed them very poorly. People who lack execution ability will always be losers.
