Analysis of the "supernatural" incident involving Elisa Lam: Are there really ghosts and gods? Clarify the truth and let the deceased rest in peace

Are there really ghosts in the world? Many people firmly believe that they have encountered supernatural events. Not long ago, an old case was brought up again. It is reported that this bizarre disappearance case that happened 8 years ago will be filmed into a documentary and will be released soon. This is the disappearance and death case of Elisa Lam. This case happened in 2013. The reason why it still attracts widespread attention after so long is that many people believe it is a "supernatural" incident. Was the protagonist Elisa Lam killed by a "ghost"?

The story goes back to January 2013. At that time, Canadian Chinese girl Elisa Lam traveled alone to California, USA, and stayed at the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. She contacted her family every day to report that she was safe. But on the 31st, the contact was suddenly interrupted and Elisa Lam mysteriously disappeared. The police worked hard to investigate and find her. Later, due to a malfunction in the hotel's water supply system, the maintenance worker checked the rooftop water tank and finally found Elisa Lam's body in the water tank on February 19.

The case took place at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, a well-known haunted house where many deaths have occurred. The most famous case is the "Black Dahlia" tragedy. In January 1947, Elizabeth Short, an actress who liked to wear black fireworks costumes, was found dead on a vacant lot in the Norton neighborhood of Los Angeles. Her body was cut in half, and the corner of her mouth was cut behind her ear by a sharp knife, showing the weird and terrifying smile of a clown. This strange tragedy has not been solved to this day, and Elizabeth Short's last appearance was at the Cecil Hotel.

Today (2013), the death of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel is still full of weirdness. The most puzzling thing is the 4-minute surveillance video released by the police before Elisa Lam disappeared. In the video, Elisa Lam walked into the hotel elevator and pressed several elevator buttons in succession. Then she walked out of the elevator, poked her head out, and then retracted into the elevator as if she was avoiding something. After a few seconds, Elisa Lam walked out of the elevator again, and the elevator surveillance lost her figure. When she returned to the surveillance range, the picture became very weird. She turned around, showing a weird clown-like smile, and her hands were unnaturally opened, as if paddling...

Once this video was released, many netizens gave various interpretations. For example, Elisa Lam was playing a prank on a new friend. Or maybe she was really avoiding the harasser and was trying to scare him away with her exaggerated movements. Some even proposed a supernatural interpretation, saying that Elisa Lam encountered a ghost in the haunted house of the Cecil Hotel and was being pursued by the wronged spirit. In short, all kinds of strange assumptions made Elisa Lam's death even more confusing.

On June 20, 2013, the autopsy report of the Los Angeles medical examiner was finally released. "No obvious scars were found on Lam's body, and there was no sign of poison, confirming that she drowned accidentally." Later, the Los Angeles prosecutor's office also confirmed that she suffered from bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a mental illness, also known as bipolar disorder. When it occurs, the patient will have extremely low moods like depression, but also show manic excitement, high energy, and extravagant behavior. In severe cases, auditory and visual hallucinations may also occur.

At this point, with the confirmation of the authorities, the matter should have come to an end. However, the attention on the Elisa Lam incident on the Internet has increased instead of decreased. Many netizens questioned the police for not paying enough attention to the case, performing their duties slowly, and closing the case hastily. They believed that Elisa Lam was probably killed, and speculations about ghosts and gods seeking revenge appeared from time to time on the forums.

Admittedly, we have overthought the truth of the matter. Why did the elevator that many netizens questioned not close for a long time? Because among the buttons that Elisa Lam pressed to enter the elevator, there was a "DOOR HOLD" button that could keep the elevator door open for a period of time. Elisa Lam's strange movements in the elevator were probably caused by hallucinations caused by her bipolar disorder. In the end, she drowned in a water tank, which was most likely related to bipolar disorder. I wonder if you have noticed that in the surveillance video released by the police, at the end of the video, Elisa Lam seemed to make a paddling motion, which was related to "water"!

Perhaps, the above analysis is not enough to dispel your doubts about the Elisa Lam incident. Let's think about it the other way around. Elisa Lam came to Los Angeles alone and called her family every day to report her safety, which shows that she had a good relationship with her family. After her disappearance, her family also quickly reported the case and tried to find her whereabouts. From this, it can be seen that her family cared about Elisa Lam very much. When the autopsy report came out on June 20, Elisa Lam's family did not raise any objections (they may have known that Elisa Lam's bipolar disorder would lead to extreme consequences), but instead turned to accuse the hotel of negligence in the management of the water tank, which ultimately led to the tragedy.

There is another question that everyone has been struggling with - Elisa Lam's behavior in the elevator was too weird and unreasonable! In fact, the 4-minute surveillance video released by the media was released after the police "edited and processed". The hotel's surveillance video lasted for several hours. Many netizens will "tap the keyboard" and question: "Why only release this short 4 minutes? There must be something fishy behind it!" In fact, the police released this video just to release the case. Everyone is confused and confused, because when the police edit the surveillance, they must take care of the privacy of the victim and obtain the consent of the family before releasing it. The case happened in the United States, and Western society attaches great importance to the protection of privacy.

The Elisa Lam incident was given a "supernatural" tone, largely because of the Cecil Hotel where she stayed. Although the hotel is located in Los Angeles, it is located in the "slums". To put it bluntly, it is a cost-effective economy hotel. Most of the people staying there are from the bottom of society, so the proportion of criminal cases will naturally increase greatly. Moreover, the hotel seems to be happy to use "haunted house" and "supernatural events" as publicity gimmicks to increase its popularity.

In fact, the Elisa Lam incident did not cause much response abroad. Just because of her Chinese identity, this "supernatural incident" was reported back to China and instantly caused a stir in the Chinese media. Over-interpreting this matter seems to be very much in line with the appetite of conspiracy theorists. It is true that we are all outsiders, and we do not know the details of many cases, nor can we know them. In this case, we should believe the results of the government's comprehensive investigation, and stop making excessive fun of this matter, discussing it with supernatural powers, and let the deceased rest in peace.
