One of Huazi's friends blushed and told Huazi that he farted a lot recently, dozens of times a day, and they were extremely smelly, but he didn't have diarrhea or constipation. He was a little worried that he had so many smelly farts every day, and wondered if there was something wrong with his intestines, and whether he had colon cancer. Huazi told his friends not to scare themselves, saying that if you always fart, it doesn't necessarily mean you have colon cancer. In fact, being able to fart means your intestines are functioning normally. If you can't fart for a long time, it means that there is a serious problem with your intestines. 1. Farting is a normal physiological phenomenon. People and animals will fart, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. Because when people eat, they will swallow some air, and there are many symbiotic bacteria in the digestive system, which will decompose food and produce gas. These gases enter the rectum with intestinal peristalsis, and when they are discharged from the anus, they are "farting". When the fart passes through the anal sphincter, it will also vibrate and make a sound. Therefore, farting is a sign of normal intestinal function. When performing abdominal or digestive tract surgery, the success of the surgery is usually determined by whether the patient can pass gas (fart) normally to determine whether there is adhesion and obstruction in the abdominal intestine. So farting can be embarrassing, but it is a good thing. 2. Why do we fart too much? 1. Imbalance of flora: There are a large number of bacteria living in the human intestines. These bacteria can help the human body digest food and synthesize the necessary vitamins. However, when bacteria decompose food, they will produce a lot of gas. When the flora is unbalanced, it will lead to increased gas production and more exhaust. 2. Eating too fast: If you eat too fast or chat while eating, you will swallow a lot of air along with the food, which will eventually turn into farts. 3. Eating indigestible food: If food is decomposed by bacteria before being fully digested, it will increase gas production. For example, eating too much beans, because beans are difficult to digest, there are more nutrients left in the food residue when it reaches the bacteria, which will cause a lot of gas production. 4. Digestive system diseases: Digestive system diseases such as gastritis and enteritis that cause gastrointestinal hypermotility will accelerate the movement of food in the gastrointestinal tract, causing the food to be decomposed by bacteria before it has time to be digested, producing a large amount of gas. 3. Why do farts smell so bad? Generally speaking, a normal person farts 500ml per day, of which 99% are odorless gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. 1% are odorous gases such as ammonia, skatole, and hydrogen sulfide. Odorous gases are mainly related to the decomposition products of proteins (such as meat), and some are produced by eating foods with pungent odors such as onions, garlic, and leeks. If you fart a lot but it doesn't smell bad, it could be gastritis, peptic ulcer, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, etc. If you fart a lot and it smells bad, but you don't eat a lot of meat, it could be gastrointestinal bleeding, bacillary dysentery, ulcerative colitis, tumors, etc. If you fart a little or no, it could be intestinal obstruction. 4. Eating more whole grains and vegetables can protect the intestines. Protecting the intestines means reducing the time that harmful substances stay in the intestines. It is recommended to eat more whole grains and vegetables, because these foods contain a lot of dietary fiber, which can absorb water, fat, cholesterol and various harmful substances in the intestines, soften feces and promote defecation. You should eat less barbecue. Although it tastes good, high temperature will increase the carcinogens in food. Eating barbecue frequently will increase the risk of colorectal cancer. You should also quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, develop a habit of regular bowel movements, and don't hold back bowel movements to prevent constipation. In summary, most people's abnormal farting is caused by their diet. If you have adjusted to a normal diet and still have frequent and smelly farts, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a colonoscopy, especially for middle-aged and elderly friends over 40 years old, who should pay more attention.
