You can make money by donating your shit, and earn a high-end mobile phone every month. How much money can your poop get you?

Some time ago, a piece of news like this became a hot topic: a 16-year-old boy was treated for autism through fecal microbiota transplantation. This fecal microbiota comes from human poop.

You wouldn’t have thought that dad could actually cure diseases and save lives.

These life-saving poops are basically from paid donations. In other words, your poop may be exchanged for money, and a lot of it.

01 How does poop save lives? It is not the poop that saves lives, but the bacteria in the poop. This technology is called fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Although it sounds disgusting, it is actually a very serious technology!

There are various microorganisms in our intestines: beneficial bacteria and harmful bacteria. Normally, beneficial bacteria and harmful bacteria can coexist harmoniously and live together peacefully.

However, once certain conditions occur in the body, the number of beneficial bacteria decreases, and the unchecked harmful bacteria multiply in large numbers, causing the intestinal ecology to lose balance. This is medically known as "intestinal flora imbalance."

Intestinal flora imbalance is associated with many diseases, such as:

Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome, metabolic syndrome, immune system disorders, allergies, etc.

It is easy to eliminate harmful bacteria, but it is difficult to restore the dynamic balance between beneficial bacteria and harmful bacteria. To treat these diseases, sterilization alone is not the optimal solution.

Therefore, scientists invented this fecal microbiota transplantation technology: extracting the bacterial flora from the feces of healthy people who meet the standards, purifying and separating them, and then transplanting the normal bacterial flora into the intestines of patients to promote the restoration of the balance of the intestinal microecology.

Researchers are isolating fecal bacteria

There are many ways to transplant, such as nasojejunal tube, enema, colonoscopy. Some technologies also make the bacteria into oral preparations.

02 What diseases can fecal microbiota transplantation treat? Many diseases related to intestinal flora disorders can be treated with this technology, such as Clostridium difficile infection, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, diabetes, hepatic encephalopathy, autism, etc.

Friends in China may be unfamiliar with Clostridium difficile, but it is a nightmare for many Americans. When it breaks out, it can cause severe diarrhea and even shock and death. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 14,000 people die from the disease in the United States each year.

Fecal microbiota transplantation is one of the effective methods for treating this disease and is listed in the US medical guidelines for the treatment of Clostridium difficile infection. It was also selected as one of the "Top Ten Medical Innovations that Impacted 2014" by the Cleveland Clinic in the United States. It can be called a "life-saving miracle drug" for this disease.

Rumor has it that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe suffered from ulcerative colitis and received fecal microbiota transplantation treatment.

Oh, and it can also treat neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression and autism.

Many studies believe that autism is not only a congenital disease, but also has a great relationship with the disorder of intestinal flora acquired later in life. Adjusting the intestinal flora of patients can effectively treat autism. For example, the autism case we mentioned at the beginning.

03 Your poop can be exchanged for money. A lot of the poop used in these treatments comes from paid donations from volunteers.

In the early years, in order to study this technology, many hospitals and research institutes publicly recruited stool donors, such as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Wuxi Second People's Hospital, and Ningbo University Institute of Digestive Diseases.

We found a public donation subsidy from a Shenzhen company:

According to the conditions given by this company, it is truly "treating dirt as money":

You can donate up to 22 times per month, earning 300 yuan each time, which means you can earn 6,600 yuan in a month.

If you recommend another qualified donor, you can earn an additional 800 yuan.

The total monthly income is 7,400 yuan, which is equivalent to an iPhone 13 per month, and the annual income is nearly 80,000 yuan. It is a considerable income.

Having written this, I suddenly feel that the paid shit I had this morning is not so good anymore... the cost-effectiveness is really too low!

04 How to become a poop donation officer? Seeing this, many netizens have been tempted to turn waste into treasure and save lives:

Wait a minute! Becoming a qualified Papa Donation Officer is not that easy. It is as difficult as taking the college entrance exam.

First of all, you'd better be a college student:

Second, you need to meet these conditions:

Apart from other things, just the rule of "don't stay up late, go to bed before 11:30" is enough to screen out a lot of people...

After passing these rounds of screening, you will have to go through these rounds of processes:

The physical examination includes 56 major items and approximately 160 indicators, which are much stricter than the requirements for blood donation.

Only after this can you become a qualified donor.

Oh, I used to call others a piece of shit, but I never expected that it could actually be a "high-quality human prescription" that could save lives.

What I didn’t expect was that even poop was classified into different levels. If you have an unhealthy lifestyle, even your poop will be “disdained”…

Do you think your poop meets the standards and can be qualified for adoption?
