The results showed that although the squat toilet produced fewer water droplets, their range was larger and wider, even reaching a person's upper body; while the toilet produced almost no splashes.

Pathogens are much smaller than water droplets, so they may rise to a higher amplitude and float for a longer time.

Imagine that you are queuing at the toilet door, and the person before you has just flushed the toilet, and you are greeted by all kinds of invisible water droplets and pathogens splashed up.
