Are you easily fatigued for no apparent reason? Maybe it’s because there’s too much noise around you

Noise is a sound that is too loud and can easily cause irritation to people or even harm human health.

When it comes to distinguishing noise, human subjective factors often play a decisive role. The same piece of music may sound pleasant to someone who is enjoying it, but it may sound like noise to someone who is studying, resting, or working with great concentration.
Just like the old lady dancing to the music in the square and the students unable to concentrate on doing their homework in the nearby residential building, one is enjoying herself while the other is enduring silently.

It can be said that any sound that interferes with people’s normal rest, study, work and other activities is considered noise.
Noise can be divided into two types: high-frequency noise and low-frequency noise.

The energy of high-frequency noises such as horns, whistles, and screams decays rapidly as the distance increases or when encountering obstacles.

However, the energy of low-frequency noise such as life, traffic, and construction noise decreases very slowly, and the sound waves are longer. They can easily pass through obstacles, travel long distances, and penetrate walls directly into the human ear.

Low-frequency noise is more difficult to isolate than high-frequency noise and is more likely to affect people's lives.

When noise has adverse effects on people and the surrounding environment, it constitutes noise pollution.
Noise pollution comes from many sources:
The noise of life such as the hustle and bustle of morning and night markets, the honking of shop horns, the noise of the crowd; the traffic noise such as the roar of airplanes, the whistles of ships, the rumble of trains, the honking of cars; and all kinds of noise coming from construction sites.
For people who need a quiet environment, these sounds are essentially no different from the screams of slaughtering pigs.
These subtle details of life are often ignored by us, and most of us do not realize that the noise in life is quietly damaging our quality of life and physical health.

A large number of studies have pointed out that long-term exposure to noise in life not only damages hearing, but also has profound negative effects on people's physiology and psychology.

When people are stimulated by noise, their blood pressure and heart rhythm may become abnormal, which is especially harmful to patients with hypertension and heart disease.
For children who are more plastic, the impact of life noise on them is more obvious.
The analysis shows that long-term exposure to noise can lead to visual attention and sustained attention deficits in children, weaken their problem-solving ability, and even lead to decreased intelligence, reading difficulties, poor memory, and boredom.
When a child who was originally doing his homework quietly gradually becomes irritable, what may make him collapse is not the math problems, but the dancing aunties downstairs.
Under the influence of continuous noise, the excitation and inhibition processes of the cerebral cortex will be unbalanced, causing confusion in conditioned reflexes, manifested as headaches, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, fatigue, irritability, memory loss, inattention, slow reaction, etc. In severe cases, it can also induce physical deterioration and hair loss.
Therefore, in order to avoid the tragedy of becoming bald at a young age, it is also important to create a quiet environment for resting and working.

So, how do you keep your family away from all this noise?

To put it simply, it costs money.
First of all, you can start with the decoration. Thick and rough walls can effectively reduce noise.
When decorating, you can choose decorative materials with good sound-absorbing effects, such as wallpaper. You can also use decorative materials such as cultural stones to make the wall surface rougher.
In addition, sound insulation materials such as mineral wool sound-absorbing panels can be used for walls and ceilings.
Converting the windows facing the street into "soundproof windows", such as double-glazed windows, can effectively block out sound. Using hollow glass can also achieve better sound insulation effects.
As for furniture, the porous fibers of wooden furniture make it able to absorb noise, which can be considered appropriately when purchasing furniture. Using cork flooring in decoration is also an effective choice.
If these effects are not good, you can buy a pair of noise-canceling headphones and wear them when you rest.

Of course, if it still doesn’t work and you really can’t stand the noisy environment around you, moving is the most direct solution.
