Did prehistoric civilization exist? If not, where did this 300 million-year-old screw come from?

The Earth is about 4.6 billion years old since its formation. Compared to the Earth, human history is very short.

Counting from the first recorded hereditary dynasty, the Xia Dynasty, it is only about 4,000 years ago, and even counting from the Australopithecus, the ancestor of mankind, it is only 3 million years ago. Compared with the history of the entire earth, it is just a matter of a moment. This cannot but make us wonder whether there has ever been a prehistoric civilization in the long history of the earth. Initially, the claim of prehistoric civilization was just a simple imagination, and then, as more and more people believed in this claim, they began to look for evidence, and then various evidences sprang up like mushrooms after rain. The most well-known of these is the "prehistoric nuclear reactor" discovered in Gabon, Africa, but later it was confirmed by scientists that it was naturally formed and was an extremely special natural nuclear reactor.

Since then, all the evidence supporting the prehistoric plain text has been deciphered by scientists one by one, and the possibility of the existence of prehistoric plain text has become lower and lower until the appearance of this screw.

On the banks of the Oka River, 188 kilometers from the Russian capital Moscow, lies a city called "Kaluga", which is the capital of Kaluga Oblast. For astronomy enthusiasts and science fiction fans, this place can almost be called a "holy city" because meteorites and traces of so-called aliens are often found here. In the 1990s, a group of meteorite enthusiasts came to this city, and their purpose of coming here was to find the meteorites they liked. As a result, they really found an unusual meteorite, because this meteorite had a "screw" embedded in it.

There are "screws" in the meteorite. If they were not artificially embedded in it, it would definitely be a remarkable discovery. So these meteorite enthusiasts immediately sent this unusual meteorite to the local archaeological institute.

The identification given by the archaeologists at that time did not disappoint them. The age of this meteorite is about 300 million years old, which means that this screw is also 300 million years old. This discovery immediately caused an uproar. Supporters of prehistoric civilization were like a shot of adrenaline. You know, screws are products of the 18th century. How could they exist 300 million years ago? If this is a screw 300 million years old, it means that it is a relic of prehistoric civilization. But this conjecture is still problematic, because 300 million years ago was exactly the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic Era, which was the world of plants and insects.

The Carboniferous period is named "Carboniferous" because most of the coal on Earth today was formed in that period because the vegetation in that period was extremely lush.

In the Carboniferous period, there were no large herbivores, so plants had no natural enemies and grew wildly. The flourishing of plants led to an increase in the oxygen content of the earth, which increased the size of insects that breathe through spiracles, so millipedes with a body length of 3 meters and giant dragonflies with a wingspan of 0.7 meters appeared. Why do we know so much about the situation in the Carboniferous period? Because archaeological research over the years has discovered many fossils of organisms from the Carboniferous period, but no traces of human civilization have ever been found. Moreover, how could a world where even amphibians and reptiles have not yet become popular give birth to intelligent civilization? Therefore, it is somewhat unreasonable to say that prehistoric civilization appeared in the Carboniferous period 300 million years ago.

This "screw" from 300 million years ago did puzzle archaeologists for many years. Until 2014, due to the advancement of inspection technology, scientists finally uncovered the truth about this "screw". In fact, it was not a "screw".

This so-called "screw" is actually a precious fossil specimen, namely a sea lily fossil. Don't be misled by the name, sea lily is not a plant in the sea, but an echinoderm that looks like a blooming lily. Even in today's oceans, there are still more than 600 species of sea lilies, but this is much less than in ancient times. In the most prosperous era of sea lilies, there were as many as 5,000 species. Sea lily, from the name, it should look like a lily, how can it look like a screw?

Sea lily is an animal that looks like a plant. It has a round base similar to the rhizome of a plant, and many arms and legs on the "petiole". These arms and legs are covered with feathers. As a filter-feeding animal, it relies on its tube feet to filter microorganisms in the ocean for food.

After the death of the crinoid, the body is very fragile, so complete crinoid fossils are very rare. Most of the fossils that have been handed down to the present are scattered fragments, and this "screw-like" part is the "rhizome" of the crinoid. The "rhizome" of the crinoid has dense spiral lines. After becoming a fossil, it looks like a rusty screw, which caused this misunderstanding that spanned decades. If it was really a screw, it would have rusted into powder after hundreds of millions of years. Now we cannot assert whether prehistoric civilization exists, but obviously there is no strong evidence to support the conjecture of "prehistoric civilization".
