Fatigue, insomnia, irritability, frequent headaches, lack of concentration...is this describing you?

Many people say that due to the high pressure and fast pace of life, these symptoms are becoming more and more obvious. Are they sick? But there is no specific pathology in the body.

In fact, you may be suffering from neurasthenia!

What factors can lead to neurasthenia? How to self-diagnose? And how to treat neurasthenia? Let's take a look.

What kind of disease is neurasthenia?

Neurasthenia was included in the medical dictionary by Kraus and Most in 1831 as a functional disorder. It is a temporary dysfunction of certain physiological functions of the body and has no organic lesions in essence.

In 1869, American psychiatrist Beard believed that it was a series of symptoms caused by excessive tension in work and life, which led to the brain or body being easily fatigued and overly sensitive to external stimuli, and believed that it was a "civilization disease" caused by rapid industrialization.

This type of disease has many clinical symptoms, and often no objective signs of organic damage can be found to explain the symptoms. Even through medical imaging technology or laboratory tests, no objective evidence can be found. Therefore, it is said to be a functional disease.

What behaviors indicate that you are suffering from a nervous breakdown?

Neurasthenia is a type of disease characterized by easy mental excitability and mental fatigue caused by autonomic nervous system dysfunction, often accompanied by irritability, sleep disorders, lack of energy and various physical symptoms.

Common symptoms include:

Debilitating symptoms

The main symptoms are fatigue, feeling overwhelmed, inefficient, slow to react, and unable to devote oneself wholeheartedly.

Symptoms of excitement

It is manifested in the decrease and persistence of excitement points. For example, when watching some film and television programs or variety shows, one often becomes particularly excited and cannot retreat for a long time.

Sometimes, because of overactive thinking, I often involuntarily recall some plots or things I have experienced repeatedly in my brain, making it difficult to fall asleep. I have poor directional thinking for urgent things, cannot do my best, and am very sensitive to sound and light.

Emotional symptoms

Patients are particularly prone to emotional changes such as worry, excitement, sadness, tension, anxiety, and frequent complaints. They are prone to blame others for the cause of their illness and even suspect that they have an incurable disease.

Tension pain

I often feel soreness and discomfort in my head, neck, back and limbs due to trivial matters or after light labor.

Sleep disorders

Common symptoms include difficulty falling asleep, shallow sleep, easy waking, frequent dreams, and lack of a real sense of sleep.

Other common symptoms

Head discomfort such as dizziness and headache, heart symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, and symptoms of autonomic nervous system dysfunction such as excessive sweating, frequent urination, sexual dysfunction, irregular menstruation or dysmenorrhea in women, etc.

If you have three of the above symptoms and they are relieved after rest, but worsened after work or study stress, and the course of the disease fluctuates for more than 3 months, then you should consider that you have neurasthenia.

What factors can lead to neurasthenia?

There are many causes of neurasthenia:

Lack of sleep

Irregular daily life, excessive mental activity and high concentration may all lead to lack of sleep, which can easily put the body in a state of tension and fatigue, and may lead to neurasthenia in the long run.

Malnutrition

If you have partial or picky eating habits or excessive dieting, you will often not absorb enough nutrients such as vitamins and proteins, which will lead to malnutrition and neurasthenia.

Due to personal character

The occurrence of neurasthenia is closely related to personal character.

People with bad personality traits such as sensitivity, impatience, inferiority, suspicion, lack of self-confidence, withdrawal, anxiety and depression will suffer from mental overactivity when encountering certain things and are prone to neurasthenia.

Other factors

If the body has a chronic disease that does not heal for a long time, or chronic poisoning occurs, a certain degree of head injury, and endocrine disorders may also induce the disease.

In addition, the occurrence of this disease is related to genetic genes. People with neurasthenia in their families are more likely to suffer from neurasthenia than ordinary people.

How to treat neurasthenia?

1. Spiritual counseling

Mental conditioning is an important measure to treat neurasthenia.

Psychologists often use personalized plans to help each patient eliminate psychological concerns and relieve mental burdens. Through directional exercises and strengthening patients' self-awareness, they can maintain patients' emotional stability, adjust patients' good mentality, and improve their ability to adapt to real life and overcome difficulties and setbacks.

2. Cultivate adaptability

Patients are encouraged to participate in social activities, cultivate their ability to adapt to society and coordinate public relations, and maintain consistency with the social status quo and the environment in all aspects.

3. Keep exercising

Appropriately participate in labor exercise and stick to sports such as jogging, walking, Tai Chi, etc., which can not only enhance physical fitness, but also relax the mind and promote the change of the disease in a positive direction.

4. Keep a happy mood

Keeping a happy mood often can relax facial muscles, relax a tense mentality, and make a happy voice. It is beneficial to accelerate blood circulation and promote metabolism.

5. Diet adjustment

Pay attention to the quality of your diet, arrange it reasonably, eat regularly, chew slowly, eat light food, supplement it with meat and egg products in moderation, avoid picky eating, and avoid drinking strong tea, coffee, tobacco, and alcohol before going to bed.
