Cry first! Staying up late not only hurts your body, but also makes you stupid, ugly and fat

Whenever it’s late at night, there are always some people who are still staying up with dark circles under their eyes: “I’ll go to sleep after watching this sweet drama”, “I’ll go to sleep after playing this game”, “I’ll go to sleep after watching this variety show”…

Before I knew it, it was already early morning, and dark circles under my eyes had left deep marks...

I'm not trying to nag you, but staying up late is not only bad for your health, it also makes you "stupid, uglier and fatter"!

Staying up late makes our brains "offline"

The next day after staying up late, we will feel that our brain is not online and it is difficult to concentrate. Sometimes we will react as slowly as a sloth and have "momentary amnesia". This is because staying up late causes abnormal brain metabolism.

Our brain produces a liquid called cerebrospinal fluid, which can clean up metabolic waste in the brain. Among these metabolic wastes is a substance called β-amyloid protein, which has a certain toxic effect on brain neurons. Abnormalities of this protein can cause Alzheimer's disease (i.e. senile dementia).

Metabolic waste is produced in the brain during work during the day, and the cerebrospinal fluid will start the "cleaning mode" during sleep at night, bathing the brain and washing away these harmful substances, thereby rejuvenating the brain. A study by Boston University in 2019 clearly depicts the entire process of cerebrospinal fluid clearing these metabolic wastes during sleep.

People who stay up late for a long time cannot ensure that cerebrospinal fluid can effectively clean metabolic waste, resulting in more and more accumulation of harmful substances in the brain. When it accumulates to a certain level, phenomena such as memory loss, slow reaction, and irritability will appear, and they are likely to suffer from Alzheimer's disease in the end.

Staying up late leads to poor physical fitness

Sometimes, after staying up for several nights in a row, it may seem that no major changes occur in the body, but in fact this is not the case.

Sufficient sleep can eliminate a day's fatigue, restore physical strength, and ensure that the body's physiological activities proceed in an orderly manner. However, when you stay up late, the body that should have rested does not get the rest it needs, and the various tissues and organs that have been tired for a day cannot repair themselves in time, so you will feel more tired when you wake up the next day.

More importantly, at night, the energy consumed by human body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and some endocrine systems continues to increase, but the energy produced by gastrointestinal function and other energy-generating systems decreases. Therefore, the energy in the body cannot accumulate in large quantities, resulting in the inability to restore physical strength to normal levels.

If you continue to endure this for a long time, your body may be drained, your physical fitness will become worse and worse, and various susceptible diseases will not be far away from us.

Staying up late has ruined our appearance

When you look in the mirror after staying up late, you will find that your skin is dark yellow, your eyes are panda-shaped, and you look exhausted. If you keep staying up late day by day, you will become uglier, fatter, or even bald. Even beauty cameras may not be able to save you... This is why people who stay up late for a long time are prone to becoming "yellow-faced women."

In fact, it is because staying up late causes abnormal skin metabolism and imbalance of hormones in the body.

Staying up late prevents the skin from getting an effective rest, leading to slow metabolism, more oil secretion from the sebaceous glands, and increased pigmentation. As a result, the skin will appear dull and yellow, and the whole person will appear to be listless. Over time, the skin's barrier function will be damaged.

In addition, sleep has a direct relationship with two hormones in the body that control appetite, leptin and ghrelin. Ghrelin stimulates appetite, while leptin suppresses appetite and accelerates metabolism.

When we don’t get enough sleep, the secretion of ghrelin in the body increases and the secretion of leptin decreases. Therefore, when we stay up late, our appetite increases greatly, and then there is endless time for midnight snacks. In the end, we not only become uglier, but our weight also soars.

Staying up late for a long time will constantly overdraw our body. The various "parts" of the human body cannot be consumed infinitely, and we cannot easily make up for the physical discomfort caused by staying up late like paying off a credit card. Therefore, staying up late on weekdays and catching up on sleep on weekends cannot make up for it. Sleeping is a "protracted battle."

For the sake of health and beauty, try to go to bed early.
