Author: Professor Guo Tuankui, Department of Oncology, Baotou Fourth Hospital 50 years ago, tumors were little-known diseases, but today, they are known to everyone, young and old. With the development of society and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, tumors have become a common and frequently-occurring disease that seriously endangers people's lives. Together with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, they are called one of the three major causes of death in the world. Who are the high-risk groups? After years of research by medical experts at home and abroad, it has been found that the following people are prone to tumors. For those who like hot food: According to research, people who like to eat hot food are more likely to develop esophageal cancer. Eating boiling hot tea, soup, porridge, soup and other foods will burn the esophageal mucosa and cause it to necrotize. If this continues for a long time, it may cause cancer in this area. Medical research has found that frequent drinking of high-temperature (above 80°C) tea may burn the esophagus, and the tannins in the tea can be deposited in the damaged area, constantly stimulating the esophageal epithelial cells and causing them to mutate. After a large number of mutated cells proliferate, they can become cancerous tissue. Eating too fast: Eating too fast will damage the protective layer of the esophageal mucosa, making it vulnerable to various carcinogens contained in food and causing cancer. On the other hand, eating too fast will not play the anti-cancer role of saliva, which is a unique anti-cancer agent in the human body. Meat eaters: Excessive intake of animal fat is one of the factors that induce certain cancers. Harvard University experts found that women who eat pork, beef, mutton and other livestock meat as their staple food are 2.5 times more likely to develop colorectal cancer than those who only eat meat a few times a month. The daily fat intake of Japanese people has increased four times compared to the 1950s, but the incidence of cancer has increased sharply. Vitamin deficiency: Swiss experts believe that people with low levels of protective vitamins are more susceptible to cancer. For example, people with vitamin A deficiency have a 3.5-fold increased risk of stomach cancer and more than a 2-fold increased risk of other cancers; people with vitamin C deficiency have a 2-fold increased risk of bladder cancer, esophageal cancer, and adrenal cancer; and people with insufficient vitamin E have an increased incidence of lip cancer, oral cancer, pharyngeal cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, intestinal cancer, and cervical cancer. Obese people: A study by Columbia University showed that obese women are twice as likely to develop colon cancer as normal women. The American Cancer Center reported that women who are particularly obese above the waist are 4 to 6 times more likely to develop breast cancer than normal women. Therefore, for people who are overweight by more than 30%, losing weight becomes an important way to prevent cancer. People with low cholesterol: As we all know, high cholesterol can cause coronary heart disease or stroke. Therefore, many people control their diet to avoid excessive cholesterol intake. In fact, cholesterol is one of the indispensable nutrients for the human body and a powerful force in resisting diseases. The lower the better. Lowering cholesterol can make about 10% of people live one year longer, but it will increase the incidence and mortality of cancer by 30%. People with allergies: American scientists surveyed nearly 40,000 people and found that people with asthma, drug or chemical allergies are more likely to develop cancer than those without allergies. For example, women with a history of allergies have a 30% higher chance of developing breast cancer than normal people, and men with a history of allergies have a 41% higher risk of developing prostate cancer than normal people. Hypertensive patients: American medical experts conducted a clinical study on 300,000 men and found that the incidence and mortality of cancer in patients with hypertension are more than twice that of people with normal blood pressure. They also predicted that the cancer mortality rate in the next 10 years may be proportional to the increase in blood pressure. Of course, it does not mean that hypertension directly causes cancer, but there are some normal mechanisms for the occurrence of the two diseases. For example, obesity, alcoholism, and excessive salt intake can both increase blood pressure and induce cancer. Therefore, actively preventing and treating hypertension can also reduce the risk of cancer. People who often stay up late: With the development of economy, working overtime and staying up late has become normalized. Although the pathogenesis of cancer has not been fully understood, one thing is certain, that is, poor sleep is also a dangerous factor. Because cancer cells are formed by mutations in the process of normal cell fission, and nighttime is the period when cell fission is most active. If you don't sleep well, it is difficult for the human body to control cell mutations and become cancer cells. People who stay up late to stay awake and smoke and drink coffee will also allow more carcinogens to invade the body. Those who hold back their bowels: Recent studies have found that the risk of bladder cancer is proportional to the duration of urine retention. This is because urine contains a variety of carcinogenic substances that can irritate the bladder mucosa and induce cancer. In addition, feces contain many harmful substances, such as indole, hydrogen sulfide, stinking agent and other carcinogens, which frequently irritate the intestinal mucosa and cause cancer. Parents with cancer: Tumor genetics research suggests that the occurrence of human cancer is closely related to genetic factors, and the risk of cancer in the offspring of cancer patients is significantly higher than that of the general population. Type C personality This type of personality is characterized by excessive self-restraint, suppressing one's sadness, anger, and depression, and not letting them out. The long-term effect of malignant emotions on the brain can lead to endocrine disorders and reduce the body's immune function, thus giving cancer an opportunity to take advantage. According to statistics, people with type C personality are more than three times more likely to develop cancer than the average person. Usually, the clinical manifestations of tumors are not specific. Many patients have already entered the middle and late stages when they are discovered, and have lost the best time for treatment. It is necessary to enhance self-care awareness and conduct regular physical examinations, which are conducive to the early detection of cancer. For example, waking up in the morning and sucking bloody sputum, that is, the sputum spit out from the mouth after the nasal secretions are inhaled is bloody, which is an early manifestation of nasopharyngeal cancer; increased bowel movements, alternating dry and loose stools, and alternating diarrhea and constipation should be alert to colon cancer; postmenopausal vaginal bleeding, irregular vaginal bleeding before menopause, especially contact bleeding (bleeding after sexual intercourse), should be alert to cervical cancer; black mole ulceration should be alert to cancer. In addition, for lymph node enlargement, especially in the neck, submandibular, groin, supraclavicular fossa and other parts, more attention should be paid, as these parts are the most common metastatic sites of gastric cancer, lung cancer, etc. |
