Nowadays, short videos have become a great tool for people to kill time after dinner.

On October 12, the China Internet Audiovisual Program Service Association released the "2020 China Internet Audiovisual Development Research Report" in Chengdu. The report shows that as of June 2020, the scale of online audiovisual users in China reached 901 million, an increase of 43.8 million from March 2020, and the Internet user utilization rate was 95.8%.

Among them, short videos have the highest user usage rate, reaching 87.0%, with a user scale of 818 million; the user usage rate of comprehensive videos is 77.1%, with a user scale of 724 million.

The report shows that short videos have become a tool for users to kill time, and the average daily usage time per person has increased significantly.

In the second half of 2018, the average daily usage time of short video applications exceeded that of comprehensive video applications, making it the top online audio-visual application application . As of June 2020, short videos surpassed instant messaging (such as WeChat) with an average daily usage time of 110 minutes per person.

The report also shows that as of June 2020, the scale of online live streaming users in China reached 562 million, of which the scale of e-commerce live streaming users was 309 million, making it the fastest growing Internet application in 2020.

15.7% of users have purchased products after watching online videos and live broadcasts, and more than half of them spent more than 500 yuan.

From the perspective of the market structure, both comprehensive video and short video platforms show a "two strong" trend. iQiyi, Tencent Video, and Youku Video, the three major comprehensive video platforms, still occupy the first echelon with a user penetration rate of 79.1%.
