What would you do if you saw a cockroach crawling by? Would you shout for help from your mother and ask her to come over and crush it to death?

If you step on it hard enough, it's actually no problem.

But if the mother is a little gentle and happens to step on a female cockroach with eggs, it will be dangerous. The eggs may stick to the soles of the shoes and scatter all over the house...

At this time, the best way is to use insecticide to kill cockroaches directly, which is fast and hygienic.

We bought two bottles of insecticide and sent them to the lab to kill cockroaches—

A gratifying scene appeared!

According to the efficacy determination method of cockroach direct spray in GB/T13917.2-2009 "Indoor efficacy test and evaluation of public health insecticides for pesticide registration Part 2: Aerosol", we obtained the following results:

Note: A new version of product No. 1 is now available on the market. The formula and ratio of the new version have been changed, and the insecticidal effect may vary.

All 20 cockroaches fell down within 2 minutes, and all died within 48 hours. It can be seen that the insecticide aerosol is very effective.

We also found in actual use that the insecticide is quite irritating. A few more sprays will create a haze that makes you feel like you are in a fairyland...

Therefore, we recommend that you only use insecticide to kill sporadic cockroaches you see. Wear a mask when spraying; after spraying, wash your hands in time, leave the room, close the doors and windows for a while, and then open the windows for ventilation.

Combination punch: cockroach bait

Legend has it that if you see one cockroach in your home, it means there are 10,000 cockroaches hiding in your home...

According to Mr. Yang from the museum, 10,000 is a bit exaggerated, but cockroaches do like to live in dark and humid corners that are difficult for people to find, and they reproduce very quickly.

A female cockroach can produce 10 to 90 egg sheaths in her lifetime, and one egg sheath contains 10 to 50 eggs. In other words, a female cockroach can produce hundreds or even thousands of baby cockroaches.

Therefore, it is not enough to rely on insecticides to solve the cockroaches we see. In order to have peace of mind and deal with the cockroaches hiding in the corners, it is best to arrange cockroach baits as well.

Direct cockroach killing effect

Will cockroaches die if they eat the bait? How long does it take for the bait to take effect?

The laboratory tests the efficacy of cockroach glue bait based on the indoor efficacy determination method of cockroach poison bait in GB/T13917.7 "Pesticide Registration - Indoor Efficacy Test and Evaluation of Insecticides for Public Health Use Part 7 - Bait".

The results are as follows:

Serial cockroach killing effect

Compared with insecticide sprays, cockroach gel baits will advertise their serial cockroach-killing effects.

First of all, we must make it clear that cockroaches do not have a fixed "nest", but just like to live in dark and humid places. Before the drug takes effect and they are killed by the poison, they will struggle, run around and have nervous reactions, but they will not return to a specific location.

At the same time, cockroaches will not eat their own kind directly when they are alive. Only when there is a cockroach infestation at home and food is very scarce, will they actively prey on the corpses of the same cockroaches and the dying cockroaches to ensure that their living environment is not polluted.

After determining the conditions under which cockroaches prey on their own kind, we purchased 100 American cockroaches and began a three-day serial cockroach killing experiment.

In the second round, the hungry cockroaches, with no other food options, actually ate their dead counterparts!

After three rounds of experiments, the technician who vowed never to touch cockroaches again handed over the experimental results and more than 300G of video materials:

Judging from the experimental results, No. 3 and No. 5 can indeed kill cockroaches in succession, provided that there are enough cockroaches in your home and there is nothing else that cockroaches can eat.

A Gentle Blow: Cockroach House

Although there are now cockroach baits in boxes that are claimed to be safe for children and pets, parents are not confident about curious babies and pets that love to destroy the house.
