The best time to remove formaldehyde is here, so hurry up and save these methods!

Summer is here and the weather is getting hotter and hotter.

The increase in temperature and humidity also causes a significant increase in formaldehyde release - that's right, the best season for formaldehyde removal has arrived!

Friends who often read our articles should know that formaldehyde removal requires ventilation. However, many friends still ask in our comments and private messages:

How exactly should ventilation be done?

Besides ventilation, what else can be done?

The formaldehyde level in my home exceeds the standard and I want to move in as soon as possible. What should I do?

For your convenience, we have specially compiled this formaldehyde removal guide. When you need to remove formaldehyde in the future, just take a look at this guide (if there is anything missing, please add it in the comment section)

In addition, you can also take advantage of the summer and follow this guide to remove formaldehyde. I wish everyone can move into a new home that meets the formaldehyde standards as soon as possible!

01

This is the correct way to ventilate and remove formaldehyde

The principle of ventilation to remove formaldehyde is to let the wind discharge the indoor formaldehyde to the outside. Therefore, to achieve good results, the wind needs to flow.

If your home is open at both ends and has good air convection, then just open the windows and ventilate 24 hours a day.

But in reality, the air convection in many people's homes is not so ideal, so you can add an electric fan to increase air convection during ventilation.

We also conducted experiments on how to place the fan and found that the best effect is achieved when the three conditions are met at the same time: blowing towards the window, far away from the window, and close to furniture!

So no matter what time it is, is it enough to just ventilate for 24 hours?

Also divided into situations:

The temperature is highest in summer and formaldehyde is released faster, so continuous ventilation is the most suitable for removing formaldehyde (so it is best to ventilate for half a year after decoration, with a summer in between).

The temperature in spring and autumn is not very low, so continuous ventilation is still the best choice to remove formaldehyde.

As the temperature drops in winter, the release of formaldehyde will also slow down.

If the home is heated and the room temperature is not low, choose 1 to 2 windows and open them 1/3 or at an appropriate angle;

If there is no heating, you can adopt the method of stuffing appropriately - first heat and humidify it for about 12 hours, then ventilate it thoroughly for half an hour (if conditions permit, you can shorten the "stuffing" time and ventilate it more often).

In addition, it is important to note that:

In order to prevent the wall from cracking, you can wait for the latex paint to dry in the shade before ventilating;

If you are worried about dust falling in your home, or it rains or other situations where it is inconvenient to open the windows, you can also use fresh air or an air purifier with formaldehyde removal function instead.

02

Other formaldehyde removal methods

Ventilation is a relatively economical and effective way to remove formaldehyde, but each household’s situation is different, and you can also use other formaldehyde removal methods according to your own needs.

03

The most fundamental method of removing formaldehyde

In addition to the above methods, there is another way to control formaldehyde from the source, which is to choose environmentally friendly boards, finished furniture, floors, palm mats, etc. from the beginning of decoration, and avoid over-decoration.

Boards, finished furniture, floors, and palm mats are not like wallpapers and wall cloths that can quickly remove formaldehyde through ventilation in a short period of time, nor are they like textiles such as curtains that can remove formaldehyde through washing. Their formaldehyde is deeply hidden inside, and the release cycle is very long, making it difficult to remove it by external force. Moreover, they occupy a large volume in the home. Once the formaldehyde level exceeds the standard seriously, they may have to be dismantled or thrown away.

▲ A friend had to remove the wall soft package because the formaldehyde exceeded the standard and could not be treated.

Therefore, the most fundamental way to remove formaldehyde is to choose environmentally friendly furniture:

Solid wood, metal, stone, etc. can be used to replace some artificial boards

When choosing artificial boards, you can choose E0 and Enf grades.

Try to choose environmentally friendly glue for artificial boards (MDI glue > phenolic, melamine > urea-formaldehyde glue)

When buying a palm mat, you can choose a palm mat made of palm fiber, natural latex or polyester fiber.

In addition, facings and edge banding (pay attention to whether they are environmentally friendly materials) can also block some formaldehyde. When buying furniture, you can pay special attention to the screw holes and seams. If they are not sealed well, you can try to fill them up.

04

How to deal with different formaldehyde concentrations at home

But in the final analysis, whether formaldehyde needs to be removed or not depends on whether the formaldehyde in your home exceeds the standard.

05

Last words

People often ask us: I have installed XX and XX in my home, will the formaldehyde level exceed the standard?

This question may seem simple, but it is actually difficult to answer because each family’s situation is different:

The same thing, when placed in home A, has acceptable indoor formaldehyde levels, but when placed in smaller home B, formaldehyde levels are concentrated together, and the indoor formaldehyde levels may exceed the standard.

However, if the formaldehyde content of the item itself is qualified, but there are too many formaldehyde release sources accumulated in the room, the accumulation of formaldehyde may cause the overall formaldehyde content in the room to exceed the standard.

Therefore, if you want to know whether the formaldehyde in your home exceeds the standard, the most accurate and convenient method is to actually test it. Only by knowing the formaldehyde situation in your home can you do a better job of removing formaldehyde in a targeted manner.

I hope everyone will no longer be troubled by formaldehyde problems!
