10 Tips to Quickly Improve Your User Interface

10 Tips to Quickly Improve Your User Interface

Creating a beautiful, easy-to-use, and efficient UI takes time and requires constant adjustments and corrections to produce a design that truly satisfies both users and yourself. In this article, we summarize some simple and easy-to-use design tips. By making some simple visual adjustments, you can quickly improve the visual effects you want to create.

1. Reduce the weight of the text

When it comes to long-form content, some regular bold fonts can look a bit heavy and harsh. You can fix this by choosing a dark gray, such as #4F4F4F, to make the text look more beautiful.

2. The smaller the font size, the higher the line height

When your font size decreases, increasing the line height can achieve better, all-around legibility; when the font size increases, simply decreasing the line height can achieve the same effect.

3. Choose a base color, use tints and shades to add consistency

You don’t always have to fill your design with multiple colors. If the project allows, just use a fixed color palette. By choosing a base color and then using tones and shades, you can add consistency to your design in the simplest way.

4. Highlight the most important elements

By using a combination of font size, weight, and color, you can easily highlight the most important elements in your UI and make the user experience better with simple adjustments.

5. For consistency, make sure the icons have the same visual style

When designing icons in your UI, make sure they have the same visual style, the same weight, fill or stroke, and don’t mix and match.

6. Always place the CTA button in the most prominent position on the screen

Make sure your call to action stands out as much as possible by using color contrast, size, and labels. If you can, don’t always rely on icons alone, but also use text labels to make it easier for users to understand.

7. Add extra visual aids for form errors

When users are filling out any type of form, adding error messages close to the action the user just performed is an easy and very useful extra visual aid.

8. Highlight the most frequently used actions in the menu

When designing a menu to be used within an application, make sure to place the most commonly used actions (e.g., upload an image, add a file, etc.) in the most prominent position on the screen.

9. Limit the use of centered text

Try to center text only in headings and small paragraphs. For all other text, keep it left-aligned.

10. Use white space wisely

Using white space appropriately, even in small amounts, can make your design shine. It’s one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve a design.

The above are 10 tips for quickly improving user interfaces. I hope they can bring you inspiration when you are seriously designing. If you have collected a lot of tips, please leave a message below and let’s learn together!
