Around 20:30 on September 14, Typhoon Meihua made landfall on the coast of Putuo, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, becoming the strongest typhoon to hit China this year. Prior to this, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued the first typhoon red alert this year, which is also the highest level of typhoon warning.

After making landfall in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, the center of Typhoon Meihua made landfall again on the coast of Fengxian, Shanghai around 0:30 this morning (September 15). When it made landfall, the maximum wind speed near the center was Level 12 (35 m/s), and the lowest central pressure was 975 hPa.

Before 5 a.m., "Meihua" moved into Jiangsu Province and weakened to a severe tropical storm. At 5 a.m., its center was located in Haimen, Jiangsu Province, with a maximum wind force of 11 (30 m/s) and a minimum central pressure of 980 hPa. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow typhoon warning at 06 a.m. this morning.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that the strong typhoon "Meihua" will land in the coastal areas from Wenling to Zhoushan in Zhejiang from this afternoon to tonight. It is expected that from 8:00 today to 8:00 tomorrow, there will be 9-11 force gales in the coastal areas of central and northern Zhejiang, the coastal areas of Shanghai, and the coastal areas of southeastern Jiangsu; there will be heavy to torrential rain in the Liaodong Peninsula, central and eastern Shandong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, eastern Anhui, central and northern Zhejiang, and among them, there will be extremely heavy rain in some parts of northeastern Zhejiang.

The eye of the typhoon is surging

Typhoon Meihua will be the fourth typhoon to land in China this year and the first to land in East China. When Meihua lands, its intensity will reach the level of a strong typhoon, far exceeding the previous three typhoons that landed this year. Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Liaoning and other places need to pay special attention .

Tonight or the third time to climb Shandong

There will be continuous heavy rainfall in Shandong, Liaoning and Jilin

It is expected that "Meihua" will move northwestward at a speed of 25-30 kilometers per hour, cross the eastern coast of Jiangsu from south to north during the day, and will move into the southern Yellow Sea near Yancheng, Jiangsu around evening today, and will land again on the southern coast of Shandong Peninsula tonight (tropical storm level, 20-23 meters/second, level 8-9), and then gradually turn to the north-east, after crossing the Shandong Peninsula, it will move into the Bohai Strait during the day on the 16th, and gradually degenerate into a temperate cyclone.

Strong wind forecast:

From 08:00 on September 15 to 08:00 on September 16, there will be strong winds of 6 to 8 with gusts of 9 to 10 in the northeastern waters of the East China Sea, most areas of the Yellow Sea, Bohai Sea, Bohai Strait, the Yangtze River Estuary, Hangzhou Bay, the coast of Shanghai, the eastern coast of Jiangsu, the coast of Shandong, and the coast of Liaodong Peninsula. Among them, there will be strong winds of 9 to 10 with gusts of 11 to 12 in the westerly waters of the southern Yellow Sea and parts of the eastern coastal areas of Jiangsu.

Precipitation forecast:

From 08:00 on September 15 to 08:00 on September 16, there will be heavy to torrential rain in northeastern Jiangsu, central and eastern Shandong, central and eastern Liaoning, southeastern Jilin, etc., among which, parts of western Shandong Peninsula, Liaodong Peninsula and eastern Liaoning will have torrential rain (100-130 mm). Some of the above-mentioned areas will be accompanied by short-term heavy precipitation (maximum hourly rainfall of 30-60 mm, exceeding 70 mm in some places), and strong convective weather such as thunderstorms and gales in some places.
