The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a blue warning for severe convective weather at 06:00 on July 8 :

01 Thunderstorm and gale: The maximum wind speed in some areas may reach above level 11

It is predicted that from 08:00 on July 8 to 08:00 on July 9, parts of southeastern Inner Mongolia, southern and eastern Jilin, eastern and northern Liaoning, southern Shandong, eastern and southwestern Henan, northern Anhui, northern and eastern Jiangsu, and northeastern Sichuan will have thunderstorm gale or hail weather above level 8, among which parts of eastern Henan, northern Anhui, northern and eastern Jiangsu will have thunderstorm gale above level 10, with the maximum wind speed reaching above level 11.

02 Short-term heavy rainfall: Hourly rainfall in some areas may reach more than 80 mm

Parts of eastern Jilin, eastern Liaoning, southern Shaanxi, southern Shandong, central and eastern and southwestern Henan, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu, northwestern Hubei, central and eastern Sichuan, northern and western Chongqing, southern Yunnan, and northern Hainan Island will experience short-term heavy rainfall with hourly rainfall exceeding 20 mm. Among them, parts of southern Shandong, eastern and southern Henan, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu, and northeastern Sichuan will have hourly rainfall greater than 50 mm, and the maximum can reach over 80 mm.

03 Severe convective weather defense guide:

1. The government and relevant departments shall make preparations for preventing short-term rainstorms, lightning and strong winds in accordance with their duties, and the meteorological department shall make preparations for artificial hail prevention operations;

2. Outdoor pedestrians and staff should reduce outdoor activities and stay away from structures such as scaffolding and billboards;

3. Drive poultry and livestock into covered areas, close doors and windows, and reinforce sheds;

4. Water operations and passing ships in relevant waters should take active response measures such as returning to port or sailing in a detour. Construction sites should pay attention to covering construction materials and properly place outdoor items that are easily affected by heavy rain, wind and hail;

5. Check the drainage systems of cities, farmlands, and fish ponds, and make preparations for drainage and defense against disasters such as mountain torrents, landslides, and mud-rock flows.
