As the weather gets colder, hot pot has become a warm choice for many families in winter. However, recently, Ms. Yu's family from Nanxing Street, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, were hospitalized because of this. It is understood that Ms. Yu's family of three, including her son in elementary school and her husband and wife who work from 9 to 8, are busy at work. After get off work every day, in order to be quick and easy, the family starts a "hodgepodge" hot pot feast, and they eat it for several days in a row. Sometimes they worry about waste, so they often mix the new pot with the old pot. A week later, Ms. Yu's family developed symptoms such as mouth ulcers and swollen and painful gums, and the family came to the Nanxing Street Community Health Service Center in Shangcheng District, Hangzhou for treatment. After examination, it was found that the lips and oral walls of Ms. Yu's family of three all had ulcers to varying degrees. "Ms. Yu's family is not an isolated case. Every winter, we see many patients with ulcers and swollen gums caused by eating hot pot," said Liu Xiaobo, the doctor who received the patient. Dr. Liu gave different treatment plans based on the different degrees of illness of Ms. Yu's family of three, and advised Ms. Yu to eat a light diet. To this end, Dr. Liu has made some health suggestions to the majority of hot pot lovers in winter: 1. Choose a clear soup base We recommend water pot, tomato pot, mushroom soup pot or three fresh pot. Avoid heavy flavors such as spicy and beef oil pot, which contain a lot of fat, salt and seasoning, high in calories and can easily cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Clear soup base has low calories and can better preserve the original flavor of the ingredients. 2. Scientific hot pot cooking sequence Start by frying vegetables, mushrooms, and soy products, which are low in calories and high in fiber, filling and healthy. Then, fish and shrimp, which are high-quality protein and light in weight. Next, beef and mutton, which are rich in iron but high in fat, should be eaten in moderation. Finally, add staple foods, such as noodles, rice, or potatoes, to balance energy and avoid being too full. Chew slowly, enjoy while controlling the amount of food. 3. Prepare light dipping sauce Sesame sauce, shacha sauce and other high-calorie sauces should be used with caution. It is recommended to make your own dipping sauce with green onions, minced garlic, coriander, white vinegar and light soy sauce, which is low in calories and delicious. Or change the dish after dipping to avoid excessive intake due to dilution of the dipping sauce. 4. Low-sugar drinks at room temperature After hot pot, choose room temperature boiled water, light tea, low sugar lemonade or mung bean soup to quench thirst and cool down without hurting the stomach. Light tea helps digestion, lemon promotes metabolism, and mung bean soup clears heat and detoxifies, making it a good companion for hot pot. 5. The total amount should be controlled Sweet potatoes, potatoes, yams, lotus root slices, etc. have high starch content and should be regarded as staple foods and consumed in moderation to avoid excess calories. |
