To this day, there is still no clear definition of smart home . Intuitively speaking, it is nothing more than making people's lives more convenient, healthier and greener.

Apple and Google's entry into the smart home industry is seen by the industry as a catalyst for the development of smart homes. In January this year, Google acquired equipment company Nest Labs for $3.2 billion in cash to develop a smart home platform, and now it has extended an olive branch to home video surveillance company Dropcam. On June 3, Apple released a smart home application called HomeKit at the Worldwide Developers Conference, which also became an important event in the history of smart home development.

At this year's Apple Developer Conference, Qingdao Haier joined hands with Apple and became the only Chinese home appliance company to access Apple's HomeKit platform. HomeKit is a protocol. In actual applications, HomeKit allows smart home appliances to connect through the iOS platform, and specific functions still need to be developed. Analysts said that Haier's move has widened the gap with other home appliance companies.

When it comes to smart home, we can't do without home appliance companies. Starting this year, more and more traditional home appliance companies have begun to embrace the Internet, launched products that can connect to the Internet, and actively transformed into smart homes. Internet TVs , smart air conditioners , smart refrigerators , smart ovens, smart rice cookers and other products have sprung up like mushrooms after rain. However, at present, these smart home appliances are all independent, and each product and brand cannot be interconnected, which is still far from a real smart home.

Undoubtedly, smart home appliances will become the mainstream of home appliances and gradually enter people's lives. As an important component of smart home, the interconnection of smart home appliances has become the key to future development. From the current point of view, the realization of smart home requires the integration of smart home appliances, eliminating the "gap" between users and products, eliminating the "barriers" between products, and truly achieving interconnection between brands and products.

It is understood that foreign manufacturers focus more on promoting intelligence from a technical perspective, making the operation of home appliances simpler and safer, while most domestic smart home appliances focus on interconnection and multi-terminal control functions. At present, due to the high-end positioning and high cost of domestic smart home appliances, their prices are much higher than ordinary home appliances, resulting in "much ado about nothing" in smart home appliances, and the overall market demand is not strong. Industry insiders said that the biggest stumbling block to the popularization of smart home appliances is the misalignment between product value and consumer demand. The product value in the eyes of enterprises has not been recognized by consumers. Therefore, even if the market price of products is reduced again and again, it is difficult to get the attention of consumers.

In fact, on the road to popularization of smart home appliances in the market, companies should start from the actual needs of consumers, constantly cater to consumers' "tastes", focus on the practical value of smart home appliances, have fewer fancy functions, and think about how consumers can create a comfortable and safe living environment with the least operation.
