A feast of philosophy

I can't remember if I have read Hu Shi's book. I took a quick look at this book "Feast of Philosophy". This is Hu Shi's lecture notes at Peking University. I wish I could travel back to that golden age when people may not have enough food or clothes but can listen to masters (I can't stay there for too long, haha). Tsinghua and Peking University at that time deserve more respect and expectation than Tsinghua and Peking University today, although they were poor.

The feast of philosophy described in the book also took place in a very similar era. At that time, there was no universally believed religion in China or even the world. Humans had just been able to feed themselves and had the ability to covet higher rights and more desires. Therefore, along with the wars of war, philosophy, which has been a brilliant river of human spirit for two thousand years, was born. After that, China (India and other Eastern countries) took the lead in entering the feudal society and led the world's centralized government and the ban on all spiritual dissidents. This kind of spiritual openness of letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend has never appeared again.

Hu Shi was a great teacher. He not only talked about philosophical thoughts, these saints or demons who have been demonized for many years, but also talked about the environment and atmosphere that led to their formation of these thoughts. Why did Laozi practice inaction? This was the product of the thoughts of that chaotic era, a fantasy and liberation after helplessness. Confucius' Yi, Xiang, and Ci were consistent, and his criticism and ridicule of Confucius' disciples were so vivid and intellectual. Mozi is something we tend to overlook, as it originated from the ban in the Qin Dynasty, but in terms of philosophy, he is actually no better than Confucianism. Zhuangzi's evolution, Han Feizi's legalism, haha, that great philosophy grew and contended like mushrooms after rain.

Whether in the East or the West, the feast of philosophy and the birth of religion all occurred in almost the same era. From then on, human beings seemed to have pursuits and ideals, but at the same time, they put permanent handcuffs and shackles on their thoughts, and there was no longer a childish and beautiful light in their eyes.
