The sharp increase in downloads of multi-screen interactive applications is expected to give birth to a new market

With the popularity of Internet TV, the interaction between mobile phones or tablets and TVs has become more frequent, and multi-screen interactive applications have gradually become one of the essential tools for users in their daily lives. The industry based on multi-screen interactive applications has attracted much attention from capital. It is reported that Lebo Technology, a company focusing on multi-screen interaction, has received millions of RMB in angel round financing from Saima Capital.

The multi-screen interactive application market is gradually emerging

In fact, multi-screen interaction has long been a hot topic for major TV manufacturers. In 2012, major domestic TV manufacturers had already shown great interest in multi-screen interaction and launched their own multi-screen interactive applications. However, they just wanted to use the multi-screen interactive function to increase the selling point of TV. Lin Yongyu, general manager of Mstar China, once said that at that time, major TV manufacturers still focused on selling hardware, and few actually spent a lot of money to buy large servers to build cloud computing.

Three years later, TV manufacturers have shifted their focus to upgrading and iteration, and have no time to take care of the multi-screen interaction field. However, the upstream and downstream of the TV box industry have already focused on layout. Lin Yongyu once revealed that TV boxes are the focus of multi-screen interaction, and Mstar started to lay out three years ago.

As expected, in 2013, Huawei, LeTV, Alibaba, Xiaomi and other companies launched a fierce "box war" with obvious results. According to statistics, the sales volume of Internet TV boxes exceeded 10 million units in 2013.

Under this trend, both box manufacturers and chip manufacturers are trying to improve their market competitiveness. At present, Allwinner Technology, Alibaba, Foxconn, Amlogic and other companies have successively adopted LeTV Technology's multi-frequency interactive solution. It can be seen that the multi-screen interactive function has been widely rolled out in the box industry.


In the second half of last year, due to the 181 policy, the box video was removed from the shelves, which accelerated the popularization of multi-screen interactive applications. LeTV's "2014 Smart TV Application Industry Report" shows that in the fourth quarter of 2014, the number of cross-screen interactive app downloads increased by 130% compared with Q1, accounting for 13.7% of tool applications.

At present, there are companies focusing on multi-screen interaction that have seamlessly connected with the upstream of the box industry. With the removal of box videos from the shelves, multi-screen interactive applications have penetrated into users' living rooms and become an important part of users' home entertainment.

Multi-screen interactive games are a major attraction

TV games have just begun, and mobile games have become the most popular type of smart TV applications simply by porting them. According to data from LeTV's open application platform, in the second half of 2014, the proportion of game app downloads increased from 25% in Q1 to 48% in Q4, nearly half. It can be seen that the temptation of TV games is irresistible to users.

However, there are few games specially customized for TV, which cannot meet the diverse needs of users. However, mobile games have exploded and have very rich game resources. It is a good choice to be able to play some large mobile games on TV.

Of course, currently Apple phones can be used to play games on the Apple Store on TV through the Air Mirror function. However, most TV users in China use Android phones, which greatly limits the user base. If the mirroring function can be established between Android phones and TVs, there is undoubtedly a huge market space.


It is understood that the Android version of the Game Bucket APP will be available soon. At that time, Android phone users can connect the Game Bucket APP with the TV Game Bucket to achieve cross-screen and split-screen gaming experience. Feng Sen, founder of Lebo Technology, revealed that relying on the video decoding capabilities of Allwinner Technology and Amlogic quad-core processors, the Game Bucket application can achieve 60 frames 1080p TV display.

In addition to the game function, the Play Bucket application also integrates the content needed in the multi-screen interactive scene in the living room, including education, film and television, music, life, shopping and other resources.

From this point of view, multi-screen interactive applications are entirely possible to become a life entertainment platform. Liu Bingyun, president of Saima Capital, believes that TV is the entertainment center of the family living room, and mobile phones are the personal entertainment center. Everyone has to return to the family, and multi-screen interactive applications are an important connection point between the two entertainment centers. Indeed, multi-screen interactive applications, as a bridge connecting mobile phones and TVs, are slowly entering the user's living room life and becoming an indispensable part of family interactive entertainment. Now there are a large number of gold diggers like Lebo Technology entering the multi-screen interactive field, hoping to make the connection point into an entertainment platform and give birth to a new market.
