How to drink water to be healthy? Don't be misled by it. Let's learn from it.

We all know that the most important elements for human survival are air, water and food. From this ranking, air is the first need. Without air, people will suffocate to death in a few minutes; water is the second need. Without water, people will die of dehydration in a few days; food is the third need. With air and water, people can survive for dozens of days even without food.

From this, we can see that water is one of the most important elements in human life. Research on the origin of life believes that without water, there would be no life. The normal supply of water to the human body is the most important guarantee for human health. Because water plays such an important role in human life, there are many people who make a fuss about replenishing water in the human body, and even make the fuss bigger and bigger, creating a large circle of water culture.

As a result, humans have been drinking water for hundreds of thousands of years, a very natural and simple daily habit, but now they are confused and at a loss as to how to drink water in a healthy way. Today we will peel off the various masks covering the common sense of drinking water and restore the innocence of drinking water.

First, let’s understand the human body’s need for water.

From the appearance, the human body can be divided into the head, neck, trunk, and limbs. The surface of the body is skin, and below the skin are subcutaneous tissue, muscles, bones, etc. The inside is the cranial cavity, thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, etc. maintained by bones and muscles, and the brain, heart, lungs, stomach, intestines, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, bladder and other internal organs are distributed in the cavity. These organs and tissues seem to have completely different shapes, but they are all composed of various cells. Therefore, cells are the "bricks" of the human body, and there are about 40 to 60 trillion of these "bricks".

Each cell "brick" has an extremely delicate structure and function, but is composed of various known elements on Earth, of which there are 11 constant elements, namely oxygen, hydrogen, calcium, sodium, carbon, phosphorus, chlorine, sulfur, magnesium, nitrogen, potassium, etc. In addition, there are more than 40 elements that can be found in the human body, but the proportion does not exceed 0.05% by weight. Among the 11 constant elements, 4 of them, namely oxygen, calcium, sodium, and carbon, account for more than 95%.

The most abundant substance in the human body is water. Depending on age and population, water accounts for about 45% to 75% of the human body. Therefore, the average water content of the human body is about 70%. This water flows in the human blood, various organs and cells. It is the most important conduction medium for nutrition and metabolism of the body. It regulates body temperature through the exchange and circulation of body fluids, and lubricates and maintains the normal functions of various organs, bone joints and muscles.

That is to say, for a normal adult weighing about 60 kg, the body contains 42 kg of water. In this sense, people survive by nourishing themselves with water. Of course, this water does not suddenly enter the human body one day, but is accumulated slowly from the beginning of conception as the body grows.

The human body consumes about 2500 ml of water every day in life activities, which is mainly lost through the following channels: excretion of metabolic waste in the human body through urine, about 1400 ml per day; oxygen exchange through lung breathing, losing about 500 ml of water every day; feces excretion requires moisture to take away about 100 ml of water; skin respiration loses about 350~700 ml of water.

This is just a general situation. For example, during physical activities with a large amount of exercise or in a high temperature environment, it is difficult to say how much water you will lose. Sometimes you may lose up to 2500 ml of water in an hour.

From the perspective of the human body's need for water, under normal circumstances, a person only needs to replenish about 2500ml of water a day. Of course, if the amount of water loss is large due to high volume of exercise or high temperature or heavy physical work, it is a different matter and water needs to be replenished in a timely and reasonable manner according to the actual situation.

How to replenish water, and how much water does a person actually need to replenish every day?

I don't know when the issue of drinking water has attracted more and more attention from some "masters", and various methods of drinking water have become more and more mysterious, such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day, drinking a large glass of water in the morning, it is best to drink mineral water, weak alkaline water, and there are also large molecule water, small molecule water, and so on.

In fact, these are all nonsense. They are all big scams. The purpose of scams is to make money. There are more and more inexplicable waters, and the prices are getting more and more expensive.

In fact, water is water, which is composed of the molecular formula of H2O. What the human body needs is this ordinary water. Any water with added frills or fancy names will not only bring no benefits to health, but may also bring harm.

First, let's take a look at how much water an adult needs to drink every day. As mentioned earlier, a normal person loses about 2500ml of water every day, so just replenishing 2500ml is enough to balance it. How to replenish this water? Generally speaking, people only need to drink 1000~1500ml of water directly every day, and the rest of the water can be taken in from food, about 1000ml, and the endogenous water produced by the body's own metabolism returns to the circulation, about 300ml.

Secondly, the water that the human body needs is H2O, and it does not need weak alkaline water or mineral water. According to the function and role of water in the human body, what is needed is ordinary water, not weak alkaline water or mineral water. Of course, some water contains some trace elements that are beneficial to the human body and are not harmful, but the human body's trace elements are mainly supplemented from food. Just eating some vegetables and fruits contains more trace elements than water.

In some special circumstances, such as in high temperature environments or during exercise, strenuous physical activities, and other activities, sweating and water discharge are large, and it is necessary to replenish them in an orderly manner according to the amount of water discharged. At this time, do not gulp down a large amount of water at once, which will cause electrolyte imbalance and disorder in the body. This is the so-called water intoxication, which can be life-threatening in severe cases.

This is a complex question that cannot be explained in one go. In short, do not drink a lot of water at once, and do not wait until you are thirsty to drink. Drink water actively, in small amounts and multiple times, and replenish in time. Doing these points will help you drink water healthily. If you drink too much water or lack of water, which leads to electrolyte imbalance in the body, and symptoms such as tachycardia, irregular heartbeat, numbness of the limbs, low blood pressure, and mental confusion occur, you should seek medical attention immediately.

So, what kind of water is best to drink?

In fact, it is very simple. Drinking boiled water, purified water or mineral water is healthy water. As long as the water quality meets the standard, it is healthy water. The so-called water quality meets the standard, which means that the microbial index, toxicological index, chemical index, radioactive index, etc. in the water must meet the national standard. This standard is very complicated, so I will not introduce it one by one here, but one thing is that the tap water delivered by the state's regular enterprises must meet the standard.

Therefore, when drinking water, you should at least drink tap water supplied by regular state-owned enterprises. Try not to drink well water, river water, or even so-called "spring water" that you use yourself, because you have no idea what is in these waters, whether they contain heavy metals or toxic substances. You think you are "maintaining your health", but in fact you are harming yourself out of ignorance.

Resolutely put an end to the habit of drinking raw water (cold water taken directly from nature). You must drink boiled water or mineral water or purified water that has been filtered and distilled to remove harmful microorganisms and harmful substances to ensure that you drink it healthily. Although tap water that meets national standards has been disinfected and treated and meets drinking water standards, it is transported through water pipes, which may contain dirt, rust and other pollution, so it must also be boiled before drinking.

There are many misleading propaganda about drinking water, but I think one thing is reliable, that is, household water treatment devices. Because tap water has various safety hazards and pollution during the transportation process, even if it is boiled and drunk, it will not have much impact on health, but the taste is always bad and often has a strange smell. Through some water treatment devices, some pollutants and harmful substances can be filtered out, the water becomes soft water, the kettle will not scale, the water becomes sweet and delicious, and cooking with this water tastes better.

Which water treatment device is good? I won’t advertise here. My suggestion is to compare more and buy products from big brands with high reputation, which can basically ensure the safety of drinking water.

That’s all I have to say. If it is useful to you, please give it a thumbs up and feel free to discuss and comment in the comment section.
