Microsoft report: Maximizing AI opportunities

Microsoft has released a new report, "Maximizing the AI Opportunity," which takes a deep dive into one of the most important technological forces in digital transformation: artificial intelligence (AI). The report defines it as a set of technologies that allow computers to observe, learn, analyze, and evaluate to make decisions and solve problems like humans.

In addition, Microsoft also analyzes what the boom and acceleration of AI means for businesses across industries and how businesses can use AI to optimize operations, reach consumers, improve products, and train employees in a more efficient and responsible way.

The report identifies five dimensions of AI opportunities: technology, people, culture, ethics, and impact. These five dimensions are interconnected, and companies must systematically develop appropriate AI strategies for themselves and their employees.

Technology: Artificial intelligence is having an unprecedented impact on the business world, and technical knowledge about AI is enabling businesses to begin harnessing its potential.

People: The AI shift creates a new set of skills, new ways of learning, which requires individuals to have a flexible and agile mindset.

Culture: AI requires socio-economic, cultural and organizational changes. The relationship between employees and businesses is changing, including the culture of education, training and retraining of the workforce.

Ethics: The application and popularization of AI must be subject to close ethical assessment to build a fair AI platform and achieve healthy development.

Impact: Businesses are under increasing pressure to assess and maintain stewardship of their global environment, reflecting the potential of AI to impact society and the world at large.

The survey found that both business leaders and employees are willing to accept AI technology, but there is a gap between attitude and action. About half of leaders and employees (51% and 49%) are unwilling to use AI technology in their current work, and more than one-third of leaders admit that they are not paying attention to AI at all (37%).
