China Automobile Dealers Association: The automobile dealer inventory coefficient was 1.91 in April 2022

On May 10, 2022, the China Automobile Dealers Association released the results of the "Auto Dealer Inventory" survey in April 2022: the comprehensive inventory coefficient of automobile dealers in April was 1.91, a month-on-month increase of 9.1% and a year-on-year increase of 21.7%. The inventory level was above the warning line.

1. Inventory coefficient increased in April compared with the same period last year

In April , the epidemic had not yet been effectively controlled, upstream automobile manufacturers stopped production, and some terminal dealers closed their stores for a week or more, and consumer momentum weakened. The overall sales of automobiles fell significantly, resulting in three consecutive increases in dealer inventory levels.

Among the 94 sample cities surveyed , dealers in 34 cities have closed stores due to epidemic prevention and control policies . Among the closed dealers, more than 60% have been closed for more than a week. The continued epidemic has had a serious impact on dealer operations. Most dealers said they were unable to complete their sales targets for the month, with more than 70% of dealers having a completion rate of less than 70%, and more than 40% of dealers having a completion rate of less than half. At present, some automakers have lowered their task assessment indicators for dealers.

At the same time, the Beijing Auto Show was postponed, and local auto shows in many cities were also forced to be cancelled or postponed, resulting in the suspension of major terminal promotions and the overall adjustment of the pace of new car launches. Dealers said that online marketing alone has limited effect. In addition, residents' income and consumer confidence have been affected to a certain extent, and consumer demand has continued to decline.

2. The inventory coefficient of high-end luxury, imported, joint venture and domestic brands increased month-on-month

The inventory coefficient of high-end luxury and imported brands was 1.66 , up 10.7% month-on-month ; the inventory coefficient of joint venture brands was 1.99 , up 4.7 % month-on-month ; and the inventory coefficient of domestic brands was 1.95 , up 17.5% month-on-month .

In April , the inventory coefficient of automobile dealers was relatively high, mainly affected by the epidemic in many places, so the high-inventory brands will not be announced for the time being.

3. Cautiously predict market demand in May 2022 Reasonable control of inventory
