At the seminar on energy efficiency policies to promote carbon neutrality, jointly organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the National Energy Conservation Center under the framework of the Sino-German Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership, the "Research Report on German Energy Efficiency Policies under the Context of Carbon Neutrality" commissioned by GIZ under the framework of the project to the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation and the Institute for Resource Efficiency and Energy Strategy was officially released. The report introduces the importance of energy efficiency policies to achieving the dual carbon goals, as well as the detailed paths and case studies of Germany's best practices and policies for energy efficiency. Germany's Climate Change Act stipulates that by 2030, greenhouse gas emissions from the German industrial sector must not exceed 140 million tons. In addition, the act also stipulates a minimum annual emission reduction. In 2020, Germany's industrial sector's emission reduction target was exceeded, but this was also due to the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
