"According to estimates based on this year's development trends, China's new energy vehicle production is expected to account for 40% of the global total in 2016." Xu Yanhua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said in Beijing that new energy products accounted for more than 1.6% of domestic automobile production from January to October. According to the data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in November 2016, my country produced 84,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 16.21%. From January to November 2016, a total of 402,800 new energy vehicles were produced, a year-on-year increase of 44.27%. Xu Yanhua made these remarks at the "13th Five-Year Plan" New Energy Vehicle Development Trend High-level Forum held in Beijing on the 10th. At this forum, more than 100 guests from the new energy vehicle industry conducted in-depth discussions on the development trends of China's new energy vehicles in terms of technology, policies, and markets in the next few years. Xu Yanhua said that the rising production and sales figures of new energy vehicles are the result of the overall progress of the entire industry: continuous breakthroughs in key core technologies, a gradually clearer industrial chain, a relatively complete industrial ecology, and a significant increase in public acceptance and purchasing desire. Participants believe that the progress of batteries, which are the "heart" of new energy vehicles, is particularly significant. According to Guo Wei, general manager of Beijing Guoneng Battery Technology Co., Ltd., the current single-cell energy density of domestic lithium iron phosphate and ternary material batteries has doubled compared to 10 years ago. The industry has formed the ability to industrialize key materials and established a relatively complete aluminum ion power battery technology system. Lithium iron phosphate power batteries have also formed an industrial scale and achieved global matching, and have initially mastered the key technologies of fuel cells, key components, and so on. "This means that in the next stage of global competition, China's new energy vehicles already have the strength and confidence to compete," said Guo Wei. Experts at the meeting also pointed out that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the new energy vehicle industry is expected to see more "warming up" and "acceleration", but it also faces new challenges such as how to make the industrial ecosystem more perfect, how to transform from government-led to market-led, how to break through more core technologies, and how to create an independent new energy vehicle brand.
