Car owner sues Tesla: Model X suddenly accelerates automatically when parked

Tesla was recently sued by a Model X SUV owner who claimed that his Model X SUV suddenly accelerated automatically while parking, eventually running through the garage and crashing into the owner's living room, injuring the driver and passengers.

The owner, Ji Chang Son, said he was slowly driving his Model X SUV into its lane one evening in September, preparing to park when his garage door opened and the car suddenly accelerated on its own.

The owner alleged in the lawsuit that "the Model X SUV suddenly accelerated automatically, moved forward at full speed, and rushed forward, breaking through the inner wall of the garage, destroying several wooden beams and a steel drainage pipe in the wall, and destroying several other objects, and finally crashed directly into the living room."

The owner of the car sued Tesla in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. At the same time, the owner is also seeking a class action lawsuit against Tesla. The indictment shows that the database of the U.S. Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recorded seven other complaints against Tesla, all of which are complaints that Tesla electric vehicles suddenly accelerated automatically without prior warning.

In the latest lawsuit filed on Friday, the car owners accused Tesla of product reliability, negligence and breach of warranty, and demanded unspecified damages.

Tesla has not commented on the matter so far, and the U.S. Highway Safety Administration has not confirmed the above matter either.

The luxury version of Model X, launched at the end of 2015, is Tesla's first SUV. During the marketing process, Tesla once promoted Model X as the safest SUV in history.
