But slowly, with the development of the Internet, when someone asks us something, we often answer: "Go to Baidu."

Especially in the past year or so, users who frequently use Baidu search will find that compared with the past, the number of entries included in Baidu Encyclopedia has increased exponentially, and the form and style are also undergoing obvious changes, even allowing users to "understand" in seconds.

It is understood that Baidu Encyclopedia, which was launched in April 2006, has accumulated a total of 14 million entries in ten years. With the help of convenient Internet channels, it is visited by 400 million people every day. Intangible Cultural Heritage Encyclopedia is a large-scale special page launched by Baidu Encyclopedia to focus on the protection of intangible cultural heritage. It hopes to use the power of the Internet to record the intangible cultural heritage that is on the verge of disappearing and connect people with services. At the same time, the "Light Up Intangible Cultural Heritage" plan was grandly launched, focusing on recommending an intangible cultural heritage project every month. The online special page has accumulated more than 9 million PVs and has radiated more than 11 million people online and offline. The Baidu Encyclopedia Intangible Cultural Heritage Special Collection Page contains a total of 1,377 intangible cultural heritage projects, and the first screen adopts a "scroll" narrative method. For the Intangible Cultural Heritage Special, Baidu Encyclopedia used a bilingual Chinese and English version page for the first time, building an international stage for China's intangible cultural heritage.

From this perspective, Baidu Encyclopedia is not only an information source tool used by people in their daily lives, but also shoulders the important task of spreading traditional Chinese culture to the next generation and overseas.

At the "Riding the Wind and Waves, Winning the Future with Knowledge - Baidu Encyclopedia Historical Records 2016 Offline Conference", Xu He, General Manager of Baidu Knowledge System, said that the dissemination of knowledge is building a new knowledge Babel Tower through the surging information flow of the Internet, breaking through the limitations of region and language. "Baidu Encyclopedia's vision is to build the world's largest Chinese knowledge base, which will include more knowledge that users care about beyond the extension of the entries, in addition to the basic entry content."

Based on this vision, "Database", "Rich Media" and "Feed" will become the three keywords of Baidu Encyclopedia in 2017. While collecting high-quality content and presenting content in various forms such as pictures, videos, audio, AR, VR, etc., Baidu Encyclopedia will start the "Search + Feed" dual-drive mode in 2017. The high-quality content in the encyclopedia will be recommended to the mobile feed, Baijiahao, and even smart hardware Dumi; it will also optimize Baidu search results and output high-quality content that is "understood in seconds" and "TA said" directly to Aladdin cards. Aggregate Baidu's full platform resources, output through multiple channels, and realize traffic sharing.

Baidu Encyclopedia will use AI + big data to efficiently reach users in content production, recommendation, interaction, and evaluation. It will share users' real-time search data, seize hot spots, recommend high-PV entries in categories that authors are good at, and guide authors to create; help high-quality content stand out through scoring and personalized recommendations; increase user interaction functions such as likes, comments, and follows, obtain user feedback in real time, and help authors retain fans; share data such as play rate, completion rate, and forwarding rate, comprehensively control content effects in multiple dimensions, and continuously guide and optimize content re-creation.

It is understood that in addition to traffic diversion, in 2017, the Wikipedia will increase support for professional individuals/institutions with continuous contribution capabilities. Through the signature of works; adding author collection pages; customizing Wikipedia entries, creating self-media and institutional Wikipedia official websites; and jointly operating brand columns with Wikipedia, personal brands and column brands will be driven. At the same time, Wikipedia will also try to commercialize content products, sharing the dividends of the knowledge economy through multiple monetization methods such as rewards, paid content, profit-sharing advertising, and brokerage services.

In the future, as more and more professionals share their insights and spread knowledge on Baidu Encyclopedia, based on the virtuous cycle of blood transfusion and hematopoiesis, the future Baidu Encyclopedia will cover all aspects of our lives.
