A few days before the upcoming Chengdu Auto Show, Cadillac celebrated its 115th anniversary. At this time, it will also launch its first mild hybrid model, the XT5 hybrid version, to consumers. This car is partially equipped with a new 9AT gearbox and a mild hybrid system. The power system has undergone significant changes. So, how does it perform? The appearance of the new XT5 has not changed much. It looks rugged and imposing. The body size is 4812mm/1903mm/1685mm, and the wheelbase is 2873mm, which is larger than its competitors. The shield-shaped grille is a family design language of Cadillac and is well matched with the brand logo of similar shape. The vertical LED daytime running lights are integrated with the chrome trim below, which is a bold design. The 20-inch large wheels have a strong visual impact, and the shape is very American, which makes it look very individual. The only difference between the hybrid version and the gasoline version is the 28E logo on the right rear, which shows its hybrid identity. Other than that, it maintains a high degree of consistency. The interior design is relatively simple, with different materials and colors creating a distinct sense of hierarchy. Alcantara is used above the center console and on the roof to highlight the sense of luxury. In addition, both the leather and solid wood decorative materials are worth the money. The CUE system has been upgraded, and the addition of cloud services has brought more extended functions, including NetEase Cloud Music, Koala FM, and MY Cadillac owner services. The center console LCD screen system has added an energy flow diagram, which allows you to understand the power output or recovery status in real time through the green energy flow direction, which is very intuitive. Most hybrid models have a unique tachometer on the dashboard, but the XT5 28E is the same as the gasoline version, and the central information screen does not include an energy flow diagram. In terms of power, the XT5 uses GM's latest 9AT gearbox. According to the manufacturer, the gearbox on the XT5 is somewhat different from the gearbox on the Equinox and the new Regal in terms of detail tuning. The changes in the power system also include the engine. The 28E model of the facelifted XT5 also adds a mild hybrid system, which uses an independent 90V power supply. Compared with the 48V voltage, the theoretical potential for improving fuel economy is greater. The new Cadillac XT5 28E uses a new powertrain, with a more balanced product. It still has the American style, with a heavy feel and comfortable driving. The XT5 is slightly larger than its peers, and is tuned for comfort, which is in line with the preferences of domestic consumers. Therefore, the performance of the new XT5 in the second echelon of luxury brand mid-size SUVs is worth looking forward to.
