In the next two weeks, Nissan Motor Co. will stop selling Nissan cars and OEM vehicles produced by some of its factories in Japan. Overseas exports will not be affected.

On October 19 , Bloomberg reported that Nissan Motor Co. will suspend six automobile assembly lines in Japan to investigate how unauthorized workers conduct pre-factory quality inspections for cars. Nissan Motor Co. said that the production of cars for overseas export will not be affected.

Nissan is a long-established Japanese automobile manufacturer.

Earlier this month, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism inspected Nissan's factories and found that unqualified technicians conducted final vehicle inspections at five of the company's factories in Kanagawa, Tochigi and Fukuoka prefectures , and stamped the inspection records with the seals of regular inspectors.

In response, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has asked Nissan to report measures to prevent such problems from recurring by the end of this month.

Earlier on October 6 , Nissan Motor Co. said it would recall 1.16 million vehicles produced and sold domestically from January 2014 to September 2017. The recall cost is said to be 25 billion yen (about 222 million U.S. dollars).

Nissan Motor has said that cars exported overseas are not included in the recall because the quality inspection certificate is only a standard set by relevant Japanese ministries.

On October 2 , Nissan Motor President Hiroto Saikawa said at a press conference that only qualified technicians would conduct vehicle inspections starting September 20. He will personally lead the investigation into the cause of the problem and identify those responsible for the accident.

However, according to Reuters on October 17 , as of October 11 , Nissan Motor's Shatai plant still had two unqualified personnel conducting quality inspections on vehicles, which will affect 3,800 new vehicles.

On October 19 , Reuters reported that in response to the above situation, Nissan will reschedule quality inspections for 34,000 vehicles produced from September 20 to October 18, 2017 .
