According to the New York Times, security researchers from the cybersecurity company UpGuard revealed that confidential data from more than 100 automakers were exposed on the public servers of Level One Robotics, including General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Tesla, Toyota, ThyssenKrupp, and Volkswagen. The leaked data includes a series of confidential information such as factory schematics, product design diagrams, consumer invoice contract information, work R&D plans, etc. of these car manufacturers, with the leaked data reaching 157 GB. Level one was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Canada. It mainly provides engineering services related to robots and automation and has hundreds of partners around the world. The reason for the confidentiality leak was that Level One did not set a password for its RSYNC service, allowing anyone to access relevant sensitive files without a password. Level One CEO Milan Gasko has responded to this matter. He said that the company is conducting a comprehensive investigation, but refused to disclose more details in order to ensure the smooth progress of the investigation. Although Level One took emergency measures after the vulnerability was discovered, there are currently no tools or means to detect whether and how many people have accessed the database without authorization.
