State Administration for Market Regulation: Tesla recalls some imported Model S series vehicles

Recently, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products", and decided to recall some imported Model S vehicles produced between February 4, 2014 and December 9, 2016, totaling 14,123 vehicles, starting from April 10, 2019.

The passenger airbags of the vehicles within the scope of this recall are equipped with ammonium nitrate gas generators produced by Takata without desiccant. When the passenger airbag is deployed, the gas generator may be abnormally damaged, causing fragments to fly out and injure people in the car, posing a safety hazard. Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will replace the improved passenger airbags for the vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate the safety hazard.

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will proactively notify relevant car owners of the recall by registered mail and other means. Users can call the customer service hotline 400-910-0707 for consultation (both landline and mobile phones are acceptable). Users can also log on to the website of the Defective Product Management Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation (www.dpac.gov.cn) and follow the WeChat public account (SAMRDPAC) for more information.
