Mergers and reorganizations between new car-making forces and traditional car companies: Aiways will acquire Landwind Automobile

Landwind Automobile, a subsidiary of Jiangling Holding Co., Ltd., can be traced back to the 1990s, and it is probably best known to the public for the Landwind X7, which looks very much like Land Rover. According to domestic media reports, the new car-making force Aiways will acquire Landwind Automobile, which is controlled by Jiangling Holding, to establish a new joint venture and achieve controlling stake.

As Landwind Motors is separated from Jiangling Holdings, the assets of Jiangling Holdings will also be reorganized, and the existing Jiangling Holdings will be "split into two."

Since Jiangling Holdings involves both Changan Automobile and Jiangling Motors Group, and its assets are relatively complex, the assets acquired by Aiways this time are only the relevant segments of Landwind Automobile.

It is reported that Aiways acquired 50% of Landwind's shares, while Jiangling Motors Group and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. held the remaining 50%, so that Aiways achieved relative control of Landwind. In addition, Jiangling's non-Landwind assets may be taken over by a new investment company.

Aiways is an intelligent new energy vehicle company founded in 2017 that drives the evolution of the automotive industry. Its headquarters and technical center are located in Shanghai. Last year, it released its first mass-produced model, the Aiways U5.

It is reported that in addition to the companies' own needs for collective development, this cooperation is also driven by the local government. Last year, the country expressed concern that new energy vehicles would see overcapacity and idleness like the traditional automobile market, and required local governments to optimize resources.
