"Autonomous Driving Safety First" White Paper Released: 11 Manufacturers Involved, Including Audi, Baidu, and BMW

Yesterday, 11 automobile manufacturers, suppliers and Internet technology companies including Audi, Baidu, BMW, Aptiv, Continental AG, Daimler, Fiat Chrysler, HERE, Volkswagen, Intel and Infineon jointly released the white paper "Autonomous Driving Safety First".

According to the introduction, "Autonomous Driving Safety First" covers safety methods related to L3 and L4 autonomous driving, which helps to directly develop safe autonomous driving cars. In addition, it also introduces a traceability system, the main purpose of which is to prove that "autonomous driving is safer than ordinary drivers" and extend to the safety goals of each component.

This white paper has 12 guiding principles, including safe operation, safety layer, user responsibility, safety assessment, data recording, passive safety and other principles, covering such as "how the system responds when the body components stop working", "user takeover status of the system", "when recording driving and identification, the recording method of autonomous driving vehicles should comply with the requirements of relevant aspects of privacy law" and other application dimensions.
