Traditional car companies enter the travel field? Toyota and Didi set up a joint venture company Fengju Travel

Recently, Toyota and Didi's joint venture Fengju Mobility (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. was officially established. It is not difficult to see that Toyota wants to use this to enter the travel field.

As early as July 2019, Toyota announced that it would cooperate with Didi Chuxing in the field of intelligent travel services. The specific method was that Toyota invested in Didi with a total investment amount of about US$600 million. Part of the funds will be used to establish a joint venture to provide supporting services for drivers.


Data from Qichachacha shows that the registered capital of Fengju Travel (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. is US$157.95 million, and Didi Vice President Yang Jun will serve as the chairman and legal representative of Fengju Travel (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. In terms of business, Fengju Travel (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. will cover car rental, car sales and other areas related to cars and travel.

Combined with Musk’s previous revelations on Twitter, once Tesla masters the autonomous driving technology, it will completely give up selling Tesla cars. It can be clearly seen that traditional car companies obviously want to get a piece of the pie in the future large-scale travel field. After all, once the autonomous driving technology matures, simply selling cars will definitely no longer be the main theme of the automotive industry.
