Dyson abandons £2.5bn electric car project as commercially unviable

Recently, according to foreign media reports, the British Dyson company, which focuses on home appliances, has announced that it has abandoned a £2.5 billion electric car manufacturing project. Dyson founder James Dyson publicly stated that although engineers have developed an excellent electric car, it is not applied to the consumer level, mainly because it is not commercially feasible.

As early as 2016, Dyson planned to invest more than 2 billion pounds to focus on the development of electric vehicle projects, with 50% of the funds used for research on the car itself and the other 50% for battery research and development. In 2018, Dyson announced plans to build a factory in Singapore to build electric vehicles, and announced that Dyson electric vehicles would be officially mass-produced in 2021.

Perhaps because electric cars have difficult problems to overcome, on October 10, James Dyson sent an open letter to all employees, saying that he would completely abandon the development of electric car projects. It is worth noting that James Dyson also revealed that the Dyson Group had hoped to sell the project as early as 2017, but unfortunately, no one took over.
