Voyage launches its first driverless taxi: controlled by mobile phone

Recently, Voyage launched its first driverless taxi at The Villages retirement community in San Jose, California.

There are only three driverless taxis deployed this time. Although the number is small, it is of great significance. It means that mankind has taken an important step towards a travel mode without drivers.

The community has more than 4,000 residents, and because it is a senior retirement community, driverless cars are a convenience for many people, especially the elderly and visually impaired who may not be able to drive.

In addition, the Voyage driverless taxi can be moved to the designated location by simply operating the software on the mobile phone.

The company said that they plan to deploy these driverless taxis throughout the city in the future, but the three trial operations are mainly for collecting data and providing convenience for surrounding residents. But for those who are not good at using mobile phones to call a taxi, there is no good solution for the time being. After all, driverless taxis cannot provide humanized service functions like waving hands to get in the car.
