The list shows that NIO ES6 and Tesla Model 3 ranked first in the SUV and pure electric sedan retention rate rankings, with retention rates of 73.7% and 72.3% respectively. Regarding this list, Roland Berger stated that although Tesla's product value retention rate has been significantly ahead of its competitors in the past period of time, with the efforts of manufacturers such as NIO, Tesla's advantages are being eroded bit by bit. For example, in 2020, NIO ES6 surpassed Tesla Model X in terms of value retention rate with its higher cost performance and more extreme product experience. The reason why the industry has been paying attention to the value retention rate of new energy vehicles is mainly because the value retention rate of new energy vehicles has been very unsatisfactory due to different battery standards in the past period of time. According to data previously released by the China Automobile Finance and Value Retention Rate Research Committee, the three-year value retention rate of most new energy vehicles is below 30%. This is obviously not conducive to the healthy development of the industry. Fortunately, many new car manufacturers have realized the above problems, so in addition to new cars, they actively protect the interests of second-hand car owners. For example, NIO has launched its official second-hand car business NIO Certified. In this regard, Qin Lihong, president of NIO, said: "We must ensure that the price of our cars is not lower than that of fuel luxury cars. If it is not achieved, we at NIO will pay for it."
