The reason why Oliver Zipp dared to publicly question Tesla may have something to do with the fact that traditional car manufacturers are spending money to regain their long-lost technological confidence in the new energy vehicle market. Earlier, BMW Group Greater China President and CEO Jochen Goller revealed that BMW is expected to invest more than 30 billion euros in electrification transformation by 2025. From a product perspective, BMW is planning to add new energy versions to the X1, 5 Series and 7 Series, and will also launch a pure electric flagship model, the BMW iX. Similar to BMW, Volkswagen also has great expectations for its own new energy vehicles. According to JATO Dynamics data, in 2020, Volkswagen ID.3 sold more than 54,000 units in the European market, which is almost the same as Tesla Model 3's more than 85,000 units. However, although traditional forces have enough confidence to call out Tesla, judging from the data, Tesla delivered nearly 500,000 electric vehicles in 2020, a result that is still out of reach for traditional forces.
