It seems that as the market weakens, the creativity of the television industry is disappearing bit by bit. Nowadays, whenever there is a new concept in the outside world, TV manufacturers here will start to paste it on the wall, regardless of whether it truly meets the needs of users. Unfortunately, from 3D to voice interaction, gesture recognition, and now the enhanced version of voice interaction - the so-called artificial intelligence (AI) TVs in the mouths of manufacturers, basically none of them have been successful. The days of treating consumers as fools are over, and the days of consumers paying for concept hype are also over. How did the concept of artificial intelligence TV come about? What is artificial intelligence? Patrick Henry Winston, professor of artificial intelligence and computer science at MIT, believes that "artificial intelligence is the study of how to make computers do intelligent work that only humans could do in the past." Hence, we have the story of AlphaGo sweeping the chessboard this year and humanity bowing down to it. This is artificial intelligence, because AlphaGo defeated AlphaGo, which once defeated world champion Lee Sedol, with a record of 100:0 through just three days of self-playing learning. On the other hand, the so-called artificial intelligence TVs currently available, such as Baofeng and Changhong CHiQ, are nothing more than old wine in new bottles. They are under the banner of artificial intelligence and do voice interaction. They are nothing more than looking for concepts to sell TVs with an original price of more than 2,000 yuan for more than 4,000 or even 5,000 or 6,000 yuan. In fact, the voice control technology currently promoted by manufacturers such as Changhong and Baofeng is simply a function achieved by implanting voice recognition interaction software such as iFlytek. This concept was already implemented several years ago and was called voice control at the time. Why did they suddenly change the name to artificial intelligence? It's just because this word is popular now, and it can be used in the stock market to reap some benefits. However, it is certain that any TV set in China that claims to be artificial intelligence has a very low IQ, and its CPU is at least two generations behind that of mobile phones, and it has no self-learning and self-driving capabilities. As for the voice control function, you know, the recognition rate has been improved, but you still need to yell at the TV to wake it up: XXXX, turn off the TV for me, turn down the TV volume for me, etc. Within five minutes, you will definitely think it is more convenient to pick up the remote control, at least this way you don’t look like a fool. Voice control is not mature at present, and using it on TVs will only increase the purchase cost for consumers. After all, few people are interested in the various smarter voice controls on mobile phones. Why? Because it is not easy to use. You should know that Apple's Siri department has not made any moves for a long time. By the way, when Siri was first launched, Changhong TV, which is now focusing on artificial intelligence, launched the Ciri copycat voice engine. I can guarantee that the term artificial intelligence was not popular at that time. If it had been popular, Changhong would have dared to call it Ciri artificial intelligence. Television doesn’t need artificial intelligence at this stage Artificial intelligence relies on data collection and deep learning of neural networks. The computing power of domestic chips in TV sets is difficult to provide the process of cognition-judgment-decision-making. Therefore, when TV manufacturers such as Changhong and Baofeng, who uphold the spirit of the Internet, forcibly graft artificial intelligence onto TV sets, embarrassment is inevitable. What you are overdrawing is your own reputation and the trust that consumers have in you. When consumers bring their TVs home and find that the so-called smart TV is just an enhanced version of voice control, will they blacklist you after paying an extra 2,000 yuan? I guess they will. As artificial intelligence technology continues to develop, we do not reject the artificial intelligence of televisions, but this will definitely be in the future. What users need now is a TV with excellent sound and picture quality, more free video content, and a lower price per square inch. Televisions don’t need to be smart, at least not at this stage. Remember, current artificial intelligence, apart from making more money for manufacturers, will not bring any better experience to users.
