With a budget of 150,000 yuan, Qin Plus, AION and Geometry A, which one is the first pure electric car for young people?

With the entry of the new energy vehicle concept, the automobile market has become lively. Tesla, NIO, Xpeng, Ideal and a number of new force brands are competing fiercely on the Internet every day.

For young people who have just started working, although new energy vehicles can significantly save fuel costs, these brands with starting prices of more than 200,000 yuan are still too far away for young people.

At this time, traditional car companies, relying on more complete supply chain management and cost control, launched a series of affordable new energy vehicle models, which became a suitable choice for young people who had just started working.

Today, we have selected three models from traditional automobile manufacturers for comparison and recommendation. They are three popular pure electric sedans under 150,000 yuan from BYD, GAC and Geometry (Geely). Let’s see which car is the most suitable for you.

To ensure fairness, we chose models with an average price between 140,000 and 150,000 yuan, namely BYD Qin PLUS EV 2021 500KM Premium Edition, GAC AION S 2021 Plus 70 Smart Edition and Geometry A 2021 Pro High-Energy Endurance 600KM A600 Cube Edition.

Appearance

For young people, the first car must not be ugly no matter what other parameters it has, so let’s first compare the appearance of the three models.

First up is the BYD Qin PLUS EV, which continues BYD's consistent full-platform design tradition. The exterior styling is basically consistent with the Qin PLUS DM-i. The overall styling of the vehicle is quite standard and basically similar to traditional cars. It is not surprising that it gives people the feeling that it is just a fuel vehicle without the large grille on the front.

Taking the white body as an example, the side window strips of Qin PLUS EV are designed in silver. As the junction color between white and black glass, it looks a bit abrupt. It might be better if it was changed to black.

The handlebars do not adopt the currently popular hidden design; the rear of the car still uses the through-type taillight design that BYD particularly likes to use. Although it has appeared on many BYD models, when you see it light up for the first time at night, you will still feel surprised.

The second model is GAC AION S Plus. Although it is the 2021 facelift of AION S, there are still some significant changes in appearance.

In terms of the front of the car, the AION S Plus has a very low-lying front design, and the streamlined design is very sporty, which echoes the design of the rear part, forming a strong sense of future concept car model, which is a very eye-catching design.

The only drawback is that although the AION S Plus is designed on a pure electric platform, it still has a grille design on the front of the car to solve the heat dissipation problem of some components. If not, the whole car will be more futuristic and technological.

In addition, the AION S Plus is equipped with hidden door handles, which enhance the sense of integration of the body when it is stationary. The rear of the car is also equipped with through-type taillights, which is a standard feature of mainstream car design.

Finally, there is the Geely Geometry A Pro, which, like the Qin PLUS EV, adopts the "oil-to-electric" design. However, Geely is an old hand at oil-to-electric conversions after all, so no matter how you look at the appearance of the Geometry A Pro, it is basically difficult to see any traces of the oil-to-electric conversion.

Speaking of the appearance of Geometry A Pro, whether it looks good or not may be a matter of opinion, but it is undeniable that it is the most technological and sports car-like model.

The window glass of Geometry A Pro adopts an all-black design, which forms a strong contrast with the white body. The high-contrast contrast design makes it full of personality.

The design of the front part of the car is acceptable, but it is too flat, so it will have some impact on the wind resistance index. However, considering that its wind resistance has reached 0.237, we will not make too many demands on it at this price range.

The handlebars of Geometry A Pro also adopt a hidden design, but the taillight design is slightly inferior to the previous two models.

In general, the appearance of Geometry A Pro is more distinctive than that of Qin PLUS EV and AION S Plus. Its cool designs allow it to stand out among a number of models. For young people who pursue individuality and beauty, there will be no regrets in choosing Geometry A Pro.

Since it is the first car for young people, although we don’t require the power performance like Model 3 at this price, if it is too weak, then the slow driving feeling will not be considered energetic. Therefore, the performance of the first car cannot be too bad.

Judging from the data, the electric motors of AION S Plus and Geometry A Pro have the same horsepower, both of which are 204, while the horsepower of Qin PLUS EV seems to be a bit disadvantaged, at only 136.

Therefore, in terms of maximum power, AION S Plus is 50kW ahead of Qin PLUS EV compared with Geometry A Pro, reaching 150kW. The maximum speeds are 160Km/h and 150Km/h respectively, while Qin PLUS EV is only 130Km/h. There is no doubt that Qin PLUS EV is completely behind in straight-line speed.

The 0-100 acceleration time of AION S Plus and Geometry A Pro is 7.6s and 6.9s respectively because the torque difference is only 40N·m (350N·m for the former and 310N·m for the latter). However, the Qin PLUS EV has only 180N·m of torque and its smallest horsepower, so there is no need to compare them in this regard.

In terms of power performance, Qin PLUS EV can be said to have been completely defeated, but in terms of handling, compared with the other two models, Qin PLUS EV also has its merits.

Qin PLUS EV, AION S Plus and Geometry A Pro are all front-wheel drive, but the difference is that the rear suspension of Qin PLUS EV adopts multi-link independent suspension instead of the longitudinal arm torsion beam non-independent suspension adopted by the other two models. Therefore, when driving on bumpy roads or passing speed bumps, you can clearly feel that the rear stability of Qin PLUS EV is better.

Therefore, if you are pursuing dynamic performance, then AION S Plus is the best choice. If there is a need to carry people in the back seat, then Qin PLUS EV is also a suitable choice.

Battery life

A major advantage of pure electric vehicles compared to fuel vehicles is that the cost of use is much lower, which is also a major reason that attracts young people to buy pure electric vehicles.

Among the three models we selected this time, AION S Plus and Geometry A Pro both use ternary lithium batteries, while Qin PLUS EV uses lithium iron phosphate batteries produced by its own company. The battery capacities of the three are 58.8kWh, 70kWh and 57kWh respectively.

The huge advantage of Geometry A Pro in battery capacity is also reflected in its rated range, which is as high as 600km, while AION S Plus and Qin PLUS EV are only 510km and 500km respectively.

At the same time, since Geometry A Pro uses a ternary lithium battery, the battery capacity is less discounted in winter and there will not be a problem of a significant reduction. And because it is equipped with a heat pump air conditioner, turning on the air conditioner in winter is more energy-saving than a pure electric vehicle without a heat pump air conditioner. The disadvantage is that the ternary lithium battery is not as safe and stable as the lithium iron phosphate battery.

However, since the battery life performance of Geometry A Pro is too good among the three models selected this time, if you have the need for inter-city long-distance travel, then Geometry A Pro must be your first choice.

Interior

In terms of interior, the design style of Geometry A Pro is more refined and youthful, and the seats are made of a mixed imitation leather material of leather fabric and Alcantara, which is very comfortable.

The size of the central control screen is smaller than that of AION S Plus and Qin PLUS EV, so it is more difficult to obtain information from the center console while driving.

The interior style of AION S Plus is more mature and stable. The seats are made of a mix of leather and fabric, which has strong wrapping properties. Therefore, it may feel a bit crowded for people with a fat body. Other places are quite satisfactory.

The interior style of Qin PLUS EV may not be easy for young people to accept. Generally speaking, it gives people a sense of value for money with a "full interior". It is the car with the most stable interior design among the three cars, which is basically contrary to the aesthetic of young people.

However, as three models with the same price range and positioning, to be honest, there is not much difference in the interior configuration. Most of them are just choices in design style. Therefore, if we make recommendations, we should still recommend them to people with corresponding preferences based on the interior design style.

Therefore, for friends who like young and trendy designs, the most recommended is Geometry A Pro, and for friends who like slightly more mature interiors, AION S Plus is recommended. As for Qin PLUS EV, the interior may not be designed for young people.
