The competition between traditional car companies and new forces has always been a hot topic among the public. The reason is that in addition to the desire to watch the fun, there are also more consumers who are waiting to buy and are curious: Are the cars made by traditional car companies really better than those made by new forces? In order to clarify this issue, 91che chose Chery's Shuxiangjia, one of the representatives of traditional fuel vehicle companies, and compared it with the Leapmotor C11, whose sales have been increasing recently. Let’s see which of the two pure electric SUVs has a better price-performance ratio and is more suitable for the general public, given that the same price is 170,000 yuan. The models participating in this comparison are the Chery Comfort 2023 512km Ultra and the Leapmotor C11 2023 500 Smart Edition. Design In terms of appearance design, the Shuxiangjia's shape is full of muscles and power. Although the front face adopts a relatively simple design language, the sharp and slender headlights and the taut front hood still make people feel that it is an extremely aggressive sports SUV. The waistline on the side of the Shuxiangjia looks somewhat familiar, and is somewhat similar to the Great Wall Wei brand VV series a few years ago, but to be honest, this is also where it is difficult for sports SUVs to differentiate themselves; unfortunately, the Shuxiangjia is not equipped with hidden door handles, so the appearance may make some young consumers feel a bit outdated. The design of the rear is remarkable, with through-type taillights, a specially designed license plate hanging area, and many sporty design elements, which make the tailgate design, which is often overlooked by car companies, a reason to take a closer look and is worthy of praise. In comparison, the design of the Leapmotor C11 appears much softer and more elegant, but the overall shape adopts a more neutral design language and does not make the shape too feminine. The front face adopts the currently popular through-type headlight design, combined with the simple front face shape, making it look quite futuristic. The side of the car body is similarly designed, with a rounded, full and not tough waistline, which makes it look less powerful and more stable and comfortable as a family SUV, making it more easily accepted by family users than the Comfort Series. Although its weight is only 1850kg, the power performance that the electric motor can provide to the whole vehicle is far from the upper middle level in the same price range, and is basically at the middle level. The electric motor of the Leapmotor C11 has a horsepower of 272Ps, a power of 200kW, and a torque of 360N·m. In terms of performance, it is much ahead of the Comfort Plus, and has basically reached the upper-middle level of SUVs in this price range. The zero-to-hundred acceleration time is nominally 7.9 seconds. Although it cannot compete with pure electric cars of the same price, it is a very good result among pure electric SUVs. It can well meet the needs of overtaking and changing lanes without feeling weak in power. In terms of chassis, the Shuxiangjia uses a front McPherson suspension, while the Leapmotor C11 uses a front double wishbone suspension. Reflecting in the actual driving experience, the Leapmotor C11 has better shock absorption performance, and the riding experience on bumpy roads is more "comfortable" than the Shuxiangjia. It also has a better performance in suppressing brake nodding, which can effectively reduce the feeling of dizziness of passengers in the car. So even though the body shape of the Shuxiangjia is more sporty than the Leapmotor C11, in fact, the Leapmotor C11 is a more sporty model in terms of power control. This is somewhat different from its home-oriented appearance, which seems to be quite hidden. Battery life and energy replenishment In terms of battery life, the Shuxiangjia uses a 67.12kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which can provide a maximum pure electric range of 512km. It supports fast charging and can be charged from 30% to 80% in half an hour. It also provides a warranty policy with unlimited mileage/years for the first owner. The Leapmotor C11 uses a 69.2kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a maximum range of 502km. It supports charging from 30% to 80% in 0.67 hours and provides an 8-year or 150,000-kilometer battery pack warranty. In terms of cruising range and charging speed, there is not much difference between the two models. The difference of 10km in cruising range and 0.17 hours in charging time will not have much impact on the actual driving experience. They can basically meet the needs of commuting to get off work and weekend inter-city travel. For long-distance driving, both can be driven, but it is not recommended. As for the warranty policy, if you plan to drive a car for a few more years and do not consider changing the car in the next few years, then the battery pack warranty of Chery Shuxiangjia is obviously much better than that of Leapmotor. Even if you drive more than 20,000 kilometers every year, you don’t need to worry about the battery life decreasing. In addition, the Shuxiangjia comes standard with an external discharge function, while the Leapmotor C11 requires an optional function. This is a point that needs to be considered for friends who have weekend outings and barbecues. The Shuxiangjia has certain advantages in this regard. Cabin and interior In terms of cockpit design, it can be clearly felt that the design concept of Shuxiangjia is still relatively traditional. To put it bluntly, even if this set of interior is moved to a fuel vehicle model, it will not feel out of place at all. There are more hard plastics on the center console, and the overall soft material wrapping is insufficient. In the case of a relatively small size of the central control screen, many physical buttons have been cancelled, which is not very friendly for the driver to modify vehicle settings and activate commonly used functions. However, the seat configuration of Shuxiangjia is much better than that of Leapmotor. The front seats are equipped with heating and ventilation as standard, and the second row seats are equipped with heating as standard. It can be used by users in both the north and the south, while Leapmotor needs to install them as options. The cockpit design of the Leapmotor C11 is full of the style of new forces - the screens are larger and more numerous. Of course, the soft material wrapping area of the interior is also larger than that of the ComfortSedan. Therefore, although the interior design of the Leapmotor C11 has a more obvious sense of splicing and lacks integrity, it has a better sense of quality when touched and is extremely comfortable. Next, let’s talk about entertainment. Since the central control screen of the Shuxiangjia is relatively small, only 12.3 inches, while the central control screen of the Leapmotor C11 is 12.8 inches, the Leapmotor C11 has a better car-machine interaction experience and the system fluency performance is also very good in scenarios such as watching videos and checking navigation. Not only that, the Leapmotor C11 is also equipped with a 10.25-inch co-pilot screen. When the vehicle is driving, you can watch videos in the car instead of playing with your phone. The care for the co-pilot is more thoughtful than that of the ComfortSedan, which is worthy of praise. Buying advice In general, if you like the sporty body shape of the ComfortSport, have certain needs for outings and camping, and don't like to pay extra money for optional seat functions, then the ComfortSport is a good choice. Otherwise, the Leapmotor C11 equipped with premium seats can actually give you a better overall experience. Its stronger power, better driving experience, and thoughtful cabin design and configuration are reasons enough to convince you and your family to place an order. Its neutral appearance is also more suitable as a family car, and it looks more stable and restrained than the Shuxiangjia.
