China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: Brief analysis of automobile industry production and sales in July 2023

According to statistics and analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in July, due to the high base of the same period last year and the traditional off-season for the auto market, the pace of production and sales slowed down, and the overall market performance was relatively flat, declining both month-on-month and year-on-year.

In July 2023, automobile production and sales reached 2.401 million and 2.387 million respectively, down 6.2% and 9% month-on-month, and down 2.2% and 1.4% year-on-year respectively.

From January to July 2023, automobile production and sales reached 15.65 million and 15.626 million respectively, up 7.4% and 7.9% year-on-year respectively. The cumulative production and sales growth rate fell by 1.9 percentage points from January to June.

In July 2023, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 2.115 million and 2.10 million respectively, down 4.7% and 7.4% month-on-month, and down 4.3% and 3.4% year-on-year respectively.

From January to July 2023, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 13.397 million and 13.368 million respectively, up 6% and 6.7% year-on-year respectively.

In July 2023, the production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 286,000 and 287,000 respectively, down 16.4% and 19% month-on-month, and up 17% and 16.8% year-on-year respectively.

From January to July 2023, the production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 2.253 million and 2.258 million respectively, up 16.9% and 15.9% year-on-year respectively.

In July 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 805,000 and 780,000 respectively, up 30.6% and 31.6% year-on-year respectively, and the market share reached 32.7%.

From January to July 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 4.591 million and 4.526 million respectively, up 40% and 41.7% year-on-year respectively, and the market share reached 29%.
