With each update, Apple Maps gets better at highlighting current conditions like traffic incidents and road closures, letting you know what to expect on your suggested route. And starting with iOS 15 Beta 3, Maps will now incorporate weather warnings into your road trips, too.
First spotted by Redditor ChrisSSDreiling, the latest version of Maps will alert drivers to known flash flood and geological hazard routes and provide alternative suggestions to avoid roads with flood warnings. Since extreme weather events often strike without warning, this feature is a welcome development, and it will be interesting to see what other weather event warnings the mapping feature is able to use in the future — and in what areas — to ensure drivers get where they need to go safely. iOS 15 is expected to be released in September this year. |
