Average annual salary for US programmers hits new high

In the United States, the average annual salary of software engineers is close to $100,000.

According to a survey conducted by Glassdoor, a US recruitment website, the average annual salary for software engineers in the US this year is $97,098. Although the increase is not large compared to 2013, it still hits a record high. The annual salary is the basic salary and does not include bonuses.

In contrast, the average salary of European software engineers is much lower, but it still increased significantly in 2014. Glassdoor data shows that the average annual salary of European software engineers this year is 43,536 euros (about 55,329 US dollars), an increase of 9% compared with 39,498 euros (about 50,198 US dollars) in 2013.
