Recently, Porsche announced its sales data for 2023. Last year, its global sales were 320,221 units, a year-on-year increase of 3%. However, unlike other regions where performance has been steadily improving, Porsche has already faced a huge crisis in the Chinese market. By region, sales in Europe and Germany both saw growth of more than 10%. Europe's sales volume reached 70,229 units, up 12% year-on-year, making it the region with the highest growth rate in the world. The sales volume in the Chinese market for the whole year was 79,283 vehicles, a sharp drop of 15% year-on-year. It is also the only region in the global market where Porsche's sales have declined. At the same time, the Chinese market, which has maintained the title of "Porsche's largest single market" for many years, was replaced by the North American market in 2023, with annual sales of 86,059 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 9%. It is worth noting that while Porsche’s sales in China have declined, sales of traditional luxury cars and new energy luxury cars in China have increased instead. Data from the China Passenger Car Association shows that the cumulative sales of luxury cars from January to September this year reached 2.25 million units, a year-on-year increase of 26%; among them, the cumulative sales of new energy luxury cars in the first three quarters reached 580,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 89%. Regarding the decline in Porsche's sales in China, industry insiders pointed out that my country's independent brands are rising rapidly, especially high-end models.
